Two weeks from now, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will start the 6-day Singapore leg of her record-breaking The Eras Tour concert from March 2-4 and March 7-8. Although Filipino fans were initially disappointed with the Philippines being excluded from her Asia tour announcement, many were willing to cross seas just to see their favorite pop star.
For the lucky ones who survived the Great War, here are a few things you must remember all too well before it’s time to go to the concert:
By suitable, we mean something that can fit under a normal seat. According to the guidelines listed by the Singapore Sports Hub, bags that are larger than 35cm x 20cm x 30cm are not allowed inside the venue, so make sure yours are big enough. For a quicker security check, it is best to bring a clear, transparent bag, although this is not required by the concert management.
Once you receive your ticket, download it in PDF format in advance, not at the venue itself. Do not screenshot the ticket since it might affect the quality of the image and may cause problems when scanning. Printing the ticket in advance could also be a good backup. It is also important to review the details in your ticket, such as your seat number, section, and the specific gate number you have to enter in the stadium. Remember that Ticketmaster will not email you the ticket, so it is best to check your account regularly.
Tumblers and glass bottles are prohibited inside the venue, but concert-goers can bring empty plastic water bottles to refill (for free!) at designated water stations inside. Keep yourself hydrated in Singapore’s warmer temperatures!
To avoid getting that dreaded “storage full” notification in the middle of the concert, clear your photo album as soon as possible. You can temporarily store it in a cloud or a Google Drive folder. For iPhone users, GCash has a promo offering a free 50 GB iCloud subscription for 4 months, available until August 2024.
Much like the Philippines, Singapore’s weather can be unpredictable. If it gets too hot, a mini fan (preferably battery-operated and fully charged) can be your lifesaver. Bringing ponchos or foldable umbrellas is also advised, given the country’s climate.
In a place where 55,000 excited fans are gathered, screaming and chanting the lyrics, protecting your ears is a must. Frequent concert-goers know that investing in good earplugs can tone down the crowd noise and actually make the artist’s voice clearer. It’s life-changing!
Based on previous shows, The Eras Tour’s approximate duration is at least three hours, excluding the opening act. To ensure your phone lasts for the entire concert, make space in your bag for a power bank.
Inspired by a lyric from her song “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” trading beaded friendship bracelets is a fun tradition Swifties started doing for this tour. Stack up on beads and make as many as your wrist can wear to easily exchange them with your fellow fans.
Remember that doors will open at 4:00 PM (SGT), and the concert will officially begin at 6:00 PM (SGT). See you at The Eras Tour in Singapore!
