This Record Label is on a Steady Climb to the Top

It would seem as if becoming a young actor or actress in the Philippine showbiz industry meant you’re doomed to the cycle of acting/dancing/and singing sappy songs – but not for James Reid and his dazzling muse, Nadine Lustre. This duo is hailed as one of the hottest love teams in the country, they started acting, went on to dancing, and now they’re exploring the world of music.
To James, singing cookie-cutter mainstream duets with Nadine is definitely not enough, his goal was to create music with his own creative freedom and at 25 years old, he did just that and even started his own record label.
Careless Music Manila (Instagram) was born from James’ passion for music. Currently, it’s a growing music label with James’ closest friends releasing their albums and singles, but there’s no telling what else Careless can do. Read on to learn more about the label.
Why CARELESS?
Careless Music Manila got its name from James Reid’s bashers who have always spat the word at him. He was labeled careless so he thought to use it to his advantage. A play on the word could even mean care less which is what he once advised to JaDines on what to do with the couple’s bashers.

Curtismith
Although they aren’t ex-lovers or anything, Mito Fabie’s screen name was inspired by Anne Curtis Smith herself and her musical reputation or lack thereof. He has already created a name for himself locally, creating collaborations with other well-known artists like CRWN and Jess Connelly, and internationally by becoming a part of Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand last year. James Reid
The moment James dropped his album Palm Dreams, we knew for sure it was the start of a whole new level of OPM. He might not have started it, he may have just been the matches that lit the already-there R&B/electropop scene but he opened the doors for the genius of Filipino music to be recognized. Palm Dreams was nothing like the songs James had to sing in his showbiz career, it was real, it was him, and most of all, it showed us how creative he can get on his own.
The album’s songs, and respective music videos, mostly center on Nadine and how she’s changed his life from the party boy reputation to the now-committed boyfriend. In a way, it’s a treat for JaDine fans, they get to see the serious and real side of the iconic duo.
Astro Kidd
Hailing from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Astro Kidd (Instagram: _astrokidd) is also an artist under Careless Music Manila. A born traveler, he has traveled across most of Southeast Asia and found himself staying in the Philippines for a while. He went to study for a few years and then he met James and Bret and his career as a musician started. You can find his music on SoundCloud and YouTube. Labelmates with James and Bret, Astro Kidd also performs at Careless gigs all over Manila.
Nadine Lustre
By now, Nadine doesn’t warrant an introduction. C’mon guys, it’s 2018! Everybody knows her name but don’t be quick to brush her off as just another teen pop star. For one, she’s already in her twenties, and for another, this girl has surprised us with her maturity over the years. More than a great actress with a number of movies and teleseryes under her belt, Nadine has also ventured into the music scene. Her hit single St4y Up was released under Careless; she also collaborated on a song with James Reid entitled IL2LU off his album Palm Dreams.
Massiah
Haissam Morton, or M.assiah on Instagram, is a talented rapper from Ghana currently residing in Dumaguete. His passion for music and the modern art wave was probably why he became a part of Careless. Listen to his song Better Daze on SoundCloud and tell us if that’s not talent you hear!
KingwAw
Also known as Bret Jackson who is recognized as a local celebrity and a good friend of James. According to an Instagram post by Bret, the name KingwAw was inspired by We Are Whatever, a music project he made with James back in 2010. These two are star-crossed lovers when it comes to their passion for music, they have been creating music for a long time that Careless must have been a dream come true. Bret released his album Island City Poems under Careless Music, with some of his songs made in collaboration with James Reid and the rest of their friends.
The Careless Mixtape
CMM has been teasing its fans with a mixtape they’ve been putting together for the past few months. No details have been released just yet on the artists included or when it will be released but all we know is, with the success of Careless, we’re sure this will be a great mixtape.
