It’s Valentine season again, dear woo-woo, witchy friends! With romance in the air, it seems like the perfect time to manifest the loving relationship of your dreams, or reaffirm your commitment to the one you’re already in. If your love life needs a little sugar, here are eight things to put in your love spells!
Magickal work is about exerting your will on the world to produce a desired outcome. Like all exercises of power, we must do this responsibly.
Ensure your intentions are not to do harm or to take away anybody’s free will. Don’t forget to ground yourself and put up protections before you start any magickal work!
Roses are traditionally associated with romance. According to Greek legend, roses were created by Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The first rose bushes were said to have grown out of a patch of ground watered by Aphrodite’s tears for her slain lover, Adonis.
Today, roses, rose petals, and rose oil are go-to ingredients for love spells!
Pink is the color related to loving, felicitous relationships (not to be confused with red, which is about sex & passion!).
Use pink candles, cloth, ribbons, ink, paint, or paper in your spells to invite harmonious vibes!
Rose quartz, a translucent, pale pink crystal, is said to be good for our heart chakra. Our heart chakra governs our capacity for empathy, forgiveness, and compassion—all things necessary to invite healthy love in our lives.
Wear a rose quartz pendant as you do your spellwork to keep your heart chakra balanced!

“willow is about intrigue, desire and the complexity that goes into wanting someone. I think it sounds like casting a spell to make someone fall in love with you (an oddly specific visual)” pic.twitter.com/D2g22yunL4

Sing a song that feels aligned with your intentions for the love spell! Music is its own kind of magick—plus it’s good for breath work and clearing your mind.
(Tip: Taylor Swift’s “willow” off her December album evermore is intended to sound like a person “casting a spell to make someone fall in love with you”.)
Spells are strongest when you add a personal component to them.
Of course, we’re not saying you should add in locks of hair or toenail clippings! Simply saying the person’s name or visualizing their face in your mind will be enough to reinforce your intentions for them.
For stronger visuals, you can add a tarot card traditionally related to love.
The Two of Cups and The Lovers are cards typically associated with romance.
Spells are driven by intention, so make sure you word the purpose of the spell in specific and realistic terms. Use the present tense, so you can easily visualize that your intentions are happening for you now.
For example, say, “We are in a harmonious, honest, and healthy relationship.” “We are communicative and receptive to each others’ needs.”
Again, make sure your intentions do no harm and do not take away anyone’s free will!
If you’re planning to do a spell that affects another person, it’s best to ask their permission first. Otherwise, you’ve got a Merope Gaunt situation (you don’t want to risk your kids growing up to be Voldemort!).
Consent is crucial in any relationship. Honest and trust-filled communication is more potent for love than any magic spell out there!
Will you be casting any love spells this season of hearts?
