From actors to models and from singers to dancers, celebrities are well-loved by the Pinoy audience. But did you know that we actually have a lot of celebrities who like to express their artistic craft off camera? Check out these showbiz names who dabble in visual arts.
We all know John Lloyd Cruz for the various roles he played onscreen that just made their marks on our hearts (hello, Popoy!). But beyond the screen, John Lloyd likes to indulge his creative inclinations through photography and videography. The actor is currently on hiatus, and he’s spending his time joining group shows under his photography alias “Idan Cruz.” The Pinoy audience misses him onscreen, but we’re glad he’s enjoying his time with art!

Love Marie Ongpauco Escudero, more commonly known as Heart Evangelista, started being known for her work as an actress and host, but she has always been practicing her artistic sensibilities, even just as a hobby. But when her husband Chiz Escudero encouraged her, she began to pursue her hobby more seriously. Since then, she has held several solo exhibitions, collaborated with book authors and fashion designers, and released her very own clothing line featuring her artworks. And did you know you can actually have your Hermes handbag painted by Heart herself? Just look at how pretty her handbags are.

When he’s not taking care of his family or playing for Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters, JC Intal spends his time creating colorful abstract masterpieces. Many have shown support for his artistic endeavors, but his wife Bianca Gonzalez and their daughters remain his biggest (and cutest!) fans.

Solenn Heusaff dabbles in all different kinds of art. From acting, modeling, and singing to fashion design, make-up artistry, and painting, Solenn is your resident all-around girl. She has held two solo exhibitions and collaborated with Studio Soliven on a carpet line. She says that while she loves art, “they’re really not meant to be taken seriously,” but if we can see the fun and passion in her work, what with her nephew Kaeden joining in on the fun, why wouldn’t we become fans?

Prior to his career as an actor, Tom Rodriguez took up Digital Animation while living in San Francisco. But even though his path diverged from his initial plans, he continues to pursue his passion while working on his acting career. Tom paints on canvases, but in between takes, he likes pulling out his tablet and creating digital sketches of anything and everything, from scenes onset to observations around the airport.

Aside from making us laugh so hard with all his comedic skits and impersonations, Michael V. shows his genius through the visual arts. He has been sketching as far back as 1993 (and he was already so good!), and he’s a big fan of comics, avidly following even the film adaptations. Nowadays, he likes sharing portrait sketches through Instagram.
Catriona Gray wowed us and the universe when she stepped on the Miss Universe stage and lava-walked her way to the crown. While she’s doing her duties as Miss Universe, Catriona probably unwinds through the visual arts. Even before her beauty pageant stints, she has already been dabbling with sketching and painting as far back as her high school days, and she even sold some of her artworks for charity. We truly stan a talented queen!
