The ‘Ber months are here, but there’s a particular season where Pinoys temporarily trade their Christmas lights and candy canes for pumpkin spice lattes and bat silhouettes: Halloween. And you can’t celebrate the spooky season without looking the part. Or at least showing everyone you’ve got elite ball chronically online references. Halloween is the perfect excuse to switch things up, so here are eight Halloween costume inspo picks that represent Pinoy pop culture.
If your idea of a Halloween costume this year is resilience and proving the naysayers wrong, nothing says “I’m blessed and highly favored!” better than dressing up as The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1 grand winner Lyca Gairanod, inspired by her breakout hit single, “Puede Nang Mangarap.” The music video had so many great looks, but the white lace dress with the pink sweater tied around the waist is such a serve!
Ian Mark Kulang Kamangkang, better known as Pitik Queen among chronically online Pinoys, has danced his way to the algorithm with an infectious personality and a signature groove full of sass and finesse. All you need is a well-fitted polo shirt, pants, and a body that knows how to do Pitik Queen’s iconic “Limang Pitik With Soft Moves.” Spoiler: it’s not as easy as it looks.
For weeks on end, content creator Baet had Pinoys hooked on the ‘Sharmaine’ saga. Baet simply poked fun at why the orange fruit is named the same as its color, which was enough to spark memes, explainers, and even get popular brands to put their own spin on the ‘Sharmaine’ trend. Any orange-themed outfit will do, but if you want to go the extra mile, dressing up as an orange will surely make you a head-turner.

Even Filipino tennis star Alex Eala can’t escape funny blunders, especially not one seen by millions during a news program livestream. Alex became a meme when a photo of her historic Wimbledon win and childhood footage were flashed alongside a headline about a phone buyer who turned out to be a robber. It’s an IYKYK type of Halloween costume, but still cute enough to pass as a sporty-chic ‘fit.
Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy (2013)
13 years later and still making an impact. What do you mean they’re using this scene for lip-syncs on TikTok? That’s the Vice Ganda effect, still influencing everyone!🤩 https://t.co/JYGEEn9m64

Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy is one of Vice Ganda’s movies that cemented her status as ‘The Unkabogable Star,’ and more than a decade later, we’re still obsessed. Or, at least, that’s what the memes and spoofs told us when Girlie’s “Goodness gracious!” monologue went viral. Nonetheless, Girlie was every bit a fashionista in that scene, wearing a cropped striped blouse, a red leather skirt, and her signature blond waves.
Senator Bato is no stranger to becoming a meme, so seeing him become yet another viral sensation while running from National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives was something. He even laughed after seeing the footage, so there goes your unofficial clearance to put your Halloween spin on it. You might even get extra points (and stares) for shaving your head! Don’t quote us on that, though.

Apparently, even Vice Ganda had throwback moments as an absolute foodie. And Pinoys being Pinoys, we turned it into our entire personality for the week. To nail the look, go full glam and serve your fiercest pose right in front of your favorite neighborhood restaurant. Because that’s how icons are usually born!
It’s been weeks since Forgotten Island hit local theaters, but the feels will probably stick with us for who knows how long. Jo and Raissa made us laugh, cry, and realize that the purest of friendships can withstand the beauty and chaos of a mystical island. So, what better way to pay homage than by doing a Jo-Raissa cosplay this Halloween?
