Best Supernatural and Fantasy K-Dramas to Add to Your Binge List

K-dramas are known for having amazing cinematography, plot, and cast whom you’ll obsess over for weeks/months/years. Add fantasy or supernatural elements to the equation and you’ll get a series that will get you hooked! If you’re a fan of the paranormal, supernatural, and all things magical, here are some K-dramas worth adding to your binge list.

 

Hotel del Luna

Jang Man Wol is the owner of a centuries-old hotel for the dead, managed by the dead. She got stuck there after committing a grave error against Goddess Mago, and after more than a thousand years, Man Wol became greedy and selfish. However, things change when the hotel is given a new manager that’s human, Goo Chan Sung. Together, they face unresolved issues of the dead before passing to the afterlife. Will Jang Man Wol have her chance to finally settle like these ghosts?

 

Hi Bye, Mama!

Hi Bye, Mama! is the heart-wrenching story of Cha Yu Ri is a mom who died from a tragic car accident five years ago. After dealing with the pain of becoming a widower and single father, her husband remarries four years after her death. Through a reincarnation program, Cha Yu Ri is given the chance to return to her old life for 49 days as a ghost.

 

Goblin

Kim Shin is a general who died during the Goryeo dynasty. With his death came a curse: a sword that pierces his heart, which made him immortal, and can only be removed by his true love. Shin becomes the Goblin who has lived for more than 900 years and witnessed many deaths of people he cared about. He meets a cheerful high school student, Ji Eun Tak, who claims that she’s the Goblin’s bride. They fall in love eventually but will the Goblin stay or finally depart?

 

Kingdom

The king during the Joseon period dies from smallpox. Rumors spread about the king’s death but in the efforts to maintain power, the selfish queen Haewon Cho Clan brings the king back from the dead using a mysterious resurrection plant. However, it comes with a price. The dead king turns into a flesh-eating zombie at night. Unaware of this situation, Crown Prince Lee Chang travels with his guard to a province to look for the physician who treated his father. Both get stuck there as the virus spread when a community unknowingly eats stew with the remains of an infected disease. Will the kingdom be able to survive from the plight of human-hungry zombies?

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

Cha Dae Woong is a university student who runs away from home after his grandfather’s dissent on his dream of becoming a famous actor. While running away, he visits a temple and accidentally sets free a nine-tailed fox or Gumiho who has been stuck in a painting for over 500 years. She turns out to be a beautiful woman who asks for Dae Woong’s help as she wished to live like a human.

 

Scholar Who Walks the Night

Vampires in a historical drama? Yes, please. Kim Sung Ryeol is a vampire who disguises himself as a scholarly nobleman during the Joseon dynasty. He used to be human though, until he gets himself into a fight against an evil vampire, Gwi. He fails the mission and for the next 120 years, he lives as a vampire whose goal is to finally destroy the evil man.

 

While You Were Sleeping

Nam Hong Ju is a young adult who dreams of bad premonitions that eventually come true. She meets her new neighbor, Jung Jae Chan, who is a young prosecutor. Jae Chan develops the same ability along with policeman Han Woo Tak, whom they saved from a tragic death. As the three discovers they have the same abilities, they realize that their lives may be connected. But will they find out why?

 

Memories of the Alhambra

Yoo Jin Woo is the CEO of a company that specializes in video games. He travels to Granada, Spain in the search for the developer of an AR (augmented reality) game and meets the owner of a hostel he’s staying at, Jung Hee Joo. It turns out that the developer is  Hee Joo’s brother who hasn’t shown up in months. However, things take a wrong turn when Jin Woo starts playing the game and it affects his life in dangerous ways. Will he be able to find the developer and will he finish the game?
