Is ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ Still Worth Watching in Cinemas?

It’s been a while since we’ve had an Avengers film (or an MCU film) in the theaters (Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released in July, but before that, it was The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025, a whole year ago). And Avengers Endgame: Encore seems to be the perfect opportunity to return to this massive universe.

ICYDK, Avengers Endgame: Encore is the same film from 2019, only with an additional four minutes’ worth of clips. Five years after Thanos snapped half the universe out of existence, the Avengers discover a way to travel back through time to retrieve the Infinity Stones from the past before Thanos can use them.

So yes, you’ve probably already seen this one. The core storyline is the same one already shown back in 2019 and now available on Disney+ and home media. But this time, for Encore, there are several additional clips: one of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans greeting fans at the beginning of the movie, then four more all-new clips at the end tying the Infinity Saga to the upcoming Doomsday film.
While it’s the same film throughout the 3 or so hours, I appreciated seeing it again on the big screen without the option to replay or fast-forward like I would on streaming, since I noticed and remembered more details this time around.

There’s Steve Rogers telling people left behind in the snap that everyone “gotta move on” but he actually still didn’t — he’s still holding onto Peggy Carter’s locket photo, and he even eventually went on to live a life with her.
There’s Tony Stark, who lived a life full of love in five years but eventually lost everything. Which made me think of Doctor Doom.

There’s post-snap Hulk, who combined his brains and brawn into one as the green guy we know in Endgame. Though by Brand New Day, Bruce Banner was once again restraining the green guy.
There’s definitely more, so it was a treat to see all these characters we’ve spent years with come together again on the big screen. No matter that we know some of them will die, our theater was full of aww’s and cheers.

Seeing iconic moments like the Portals scene or Cap lifting Mjolnir alongside a theater full of cheering fans let us into an atmosphere that streaming at home simply can’t replicate. That collective experience of watching all these scenes again made the three-hour film all the more worth it.
And the cherries on top are definitely the four mid- and post-credit scenes that expanded on the original film. We won’t give spoilers, but we saw Bruce Banner, Loki and the TVA, and even Doctor Doom himself.

So is Avengers Endgame: Encore still worth watching in the cinema? We say yes if you want to relive the big-screen spectacle and the collective audience reaction. Honestly, Encore made us want to fast-forward to December for Doomsday.
