Social media is currently obsessed with creating aesthetic cutout collage trend and we’re here for it. There’s something so pleasant about the way these videos are edited, looking much like an online 7-second scrapbook. It’s the perfect blend of Instagram aesthetic and Pinterest-worthy film photos! We know you must be itching to try it out and we’re here to help you do just that.
ICYDK what we’re talking about, it’s these types of videos:
It can be a combination of photos and videos!
A perfect blend of Instagram and Pinterest aesthetics.
Pretty cool, right? If you’ve got tons of photos, you can use this trend to post all of them in one go. Here are a few ways you can recreate the cutout collage trend for your photos:
The first time this trend appeared on our timelines, we scoured the comments section and bugged the creators to reveal how they did it. Most of them said it was a Photoshop edit, at which point those who aren’t well-versed enough in the tool gave up trying to recreate it. But if you know your way around Photoshop, it’s only a simple background removal with maybe a few filters. With Photoshop, you’ve got full control of your edit from the way you crop photos to how you want them shown on the video.
Buuut, if Photoshop isn’t an option, that’s okay because there are other ways to recreate the trend.
@londontitpon This filter is so cute!!! 2022 I’ve spent more time with people who matter, more time doing things I enjoy, and more time wearing clothes that make me feel me 💚 #tiktokfilter #collagetrend #collagecutout #trend #cutoutvideo #photodump ♬ POP DANCE – Bensound
When TikTok saw that everyone was slowly getting in on the trend, they were quick to produce a filter for it, and boy did that make things so much easier for everyone. Now all you have to do is look up “Collage” or “Collage II” in the filters, choose a style and beat, and select your photos.
But of course, the TikTok filter isn’t perfect. Right now, it only allows up to five photos to include in the collage. So if you’re extra and you want to include more, you can DIY it with a few apps. A popular combo is Picsart and InShot. First, you choose the photos you want to include, remove the background in Picsart (whether via web or phone), and stitch it all together via InShot. It’s a time-consuming task but the end result is worth it.
Another great duo is the apps Magic Eraser and CapCut. It’s basically the same procedure but you have to download Magic Eraser on your phone first (it’s free for iOS!). Remove the background on the images and line them all up on CapCut for the finished product. Upload your awesome video on IG Reels or on TikTok and watch the likes roll in.
If you can’t be bothered to download two apps, you can try an online image background remover like remove.bg. Once you’re done with your cutout photos, you can download a video editing app like VN Video Editor to put it all together. And voila, you’ve got yourself a trendy video your followers will envy you for.
Another way you can make your trendy collage dreams come to fruition is through the Lift App which is only available for iOS. Aside from letting you remove photo backgrounds and turn them into a scrapbook collage video, they also have a selection of cute stickers to match any aesthetic.
And now you’re ready to create your own cutout collage video!
