There is truly no unique experience in this world. Case in point: These relatable AF reasons why Pinoys think they will never find a partner to settle down with. This helpful Reddit thread could provide enlightenment about why you’ve never had a decent relationship or why you never seem to enjoy being someone’s S/O. If you find yourself nodding to these signs, you probably know what’s in store for you. Come, join the #SingleForever club. It doesn’t have to be a bad thing!
It’s a big word, but it basically means you’re so used to being on your own that the idea of being accountable to and for someone does not appeal to you.
Not only do you value it, you actually crave it. You look forward to coming home to an empty house or apartment and doing your thing — alone. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful. You could probably agree with one Redditor’s comment: “I’ve been living alone for almost a decade so tinatamad ako pag biglang may makakasama sa bahay. Pwede ba tabi na lang kami ng condo unit.”
“Good morning!” “How was your day?” “What are you doing now?” If you take 3 to 5 business days to respond to these kinds of texts, you probably wouldn’t want to be in a relationship.
Everyone knows those in the dating pool must endure the “talking stage” before committing to “the one.” But what if you get bored easily? What if one grammatical error your potential partner makes turns you off? What if they like mental gymnastics when you’d rather cut to the chase? That’s actually a great reason for being #SingleForever.
You belt out Taylor Swift’s song “Anti-Hero,” and you mean it. It’s you—you’re the problem in some way or another. You’re probably one of those “walking red flags.” If you are, and you choose to be single rather than traumatize an innocent person, good for you.
Some folks didn’t actively choose to be single at first, but after multiple failed attempts at romance, they decided they were done with the whole scene. After all, one can only endure so much of being ghosted and heartbroken.
Sometimes, circumstances decide that we will be #SingleForever, and we accept our fate. It’s not bitter to know you’re the “alay” destined to care for your family members. You also don’t want the burden of having to worry about two families at once when you begin to have kids. Besides, being the cool tito/tita of the fam is actually a great achievement!
It’s not too bad being the rich tita/tito! Instead of walking down the aisle at a church, you’d be walking down airplane aisles, ready for your next adventure. Instead of taking care of kids, you could visit theme parks anytime you want and heal your inner child. The tradeoff to having a family of your own might sound luxurious, but it’s important to note that many old single folks regret their life choices in the end. I’m not saying that will happen to you, but it’s great to keep in mind.
Can you relate to any of these? You’re probably going to be single for life. But hey, who says that’s a bad thing?
