Unlocking Romblon: Things to Do and Places to Visit for First-Timers

Oct 19, 2026   •   Ina Louise Manto

Traveling locally is exciting. With so many islands to discover, imagine the pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and untouched natural attractions you’ll never run out of. We might already have favorite local destinations we keep coming back to, but sometimes you need to feel a little adventurous and let your curiosity lead the way.

The province of Romblon has three major islands: Romblon, Tablas, and Sibuyan, so there are plenty of destinations to discover. For first-timers, here are some activities and places to unlock in Romblon, Romblon:

Go on a heritage tour

Getting acquainted with a new destination means understanding its history, one landmark at a time. During our trip to Romblon, Romblon, here are some places we got to see:

Katedral ni San Jose

Location: Rizal Street, Poblacion, Romblon

Churches, especially those built during the Spanish era, are easily one of the best ways to learn and appreciate old architecture. Nestled in the heart of Romblon Island, Katedral ni San Jose was built in the 18th century using limestone and egg whites. Moro attacks were rampant during that period, which ultimately affected the cathedral’s construction: its rear side faces the mountains, while the front faces the sea for stability.

Unlike other churches, Katedral ni San Jose features three altars or retablos. A replica image of Cebu’s Sto. Nino was also brought to the church in 1728 and still stands on one side of the altar. The same belfry also still stands outside the church today.

The Romblon Cathedral is also the oldest church in the province.

Fuerza de San Andres

Location: San Antonio Hill, Romblon

Perched on San Antonio Hill, Fuerza de San Andres is a well-preserved fortification system built in the 17th century. For years, the fortification helped protect locals from Dutch marauders and Muslim raiders.

In 2013, the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA) declared the fort a Natural Cultural Treasure.

Today, the fortress is an ideal spot to take in panoramic coastal views of the island and its surrounding bay. Entrance is also free here.

Join a marble tour

Did you know Romblon is the Philippines’ Marble Capital? Witness the process of turning these natural stones into products.

Multiple marble factories are scattered around Romblon Island, as marble production is one of the island’s biggest industries. Our group witnessed the process of acquiring these stones from the mountain to when they’re ready to be sold as tiles and other products.

Romblon Shopping Center

If there’s one souvenir you shouldn’t miss in Romblon, it’s anything made of marble. Romblon Shopping Center houses multiple souvenir shops where you can find various marble items: from a mortar and pestle for your kitchen to coasters and paperweights for your work desk.

Other stores also offer free engraving to make your pasalubong more personal.

Explore white sand beaches

One of the best things about exploring the Philippines is that you’ll never run out of new islands to discover, and they never disappoint. With white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, Philippine beaches are hard to beat, and you can explore some around Romblon Island.

Bon Bon Beach

Make Bon Bon Beach your top island destination to visit because it was hailed as one of the world’s best in 2025. Bon Bon Beach is known for its white sand and long sandbar that connects Romblon to Bang-og Island.

When planning your visit, check the tides so you can see the sandbar in all its glory. Otherwise, cool off, get tan, and soak in its clear blue waters.

Cobrador Island

If you’re looking for a chill and less crowded beach, take the 45-minute boat ride from the main island to Cobrador Island. This piece of paradise is perfect for folks who truly want to disconnect – there’s no signal here at all, so you’re left with nature.

Logbon Island

Pro tip: Romblon has more than one island with a sandbar, and Logbon Island is home to the other. The island also features a 2-kilometer stretch of white-sand beach, where you can take photos during the island-hopping tour or swim directly and enjoy the waters.

Alad Island

@benkaarlo I’ve seen a lot of beautiful beaches, but the water in Alad Island hits differently. So clear, so vibrant, and impossible to stop staring at. #AladIsland #Romblon #CrystalClearWater #HDR #TravelPhilippines ♬ original sound – Ben Kaarlo Trinidad

Romblon is home to incredible diving spots, and Alad Island is one of them. Its vibrant underwater life is best seen on a Romblon island-hopping tour, so rent snorkeling gear and take underwater photos.

How to get to Romblon

While sailing remains the main way to get to Romblon, travelers can now easily fly there in just an hour from Clark, Pampanga. Boutique airline Sunlight Air now offers direct flights to Romblon twice a week: Tuesdays and Saturdays. That’s the ideal period to see what the province has to offer!
