On September 7-8, SuperManila Comic Con returns for its third edition! Happening at the Space at One Ayala, and headlined by some of the most famous names in comics, toys, and collectibles, SuperManila promises to give pop culture fans an event they won’t soon forget!
Featuring talks, panels, workshops, and exhibits for guests of all ages, here’s eight amazing things you and your family can enjoy at SuperManila:
For 2024, the SuperManila organizers have outdone themselves with a world-class lineup of Special Guests. From Marvel Comics Editor-in Chief C.B. Cebulski himself, to industry legends Mike Zeck (Secret Wars, Spider-Man) and Bob Layton (Iron Man), or modern-day superstars Artgerm (X-Men, Wonder Woman), Derrick Chew (NYX, Batman), Kendrick Kunkka Lim (Carnage), Ejikure Wee Kiat (Something is Killing the Children), and Peach Momoko (Demon Days, Ultimate X-Men), SuperManila 2024 is the place to meet these iconic comic creators! Each creator will have their own booth, where you can get your comics, toys, artwork, and posters signed.
Did you know that a large number of Marvel and DC’s hottest artists come from the Philippines? Don’t miss your chance to meet them and have your comics signed by the likes of Leinil Yu (Secret Invasion, Wolverine), Stephen Segovia (Detective Comics, The Scorched), Carlo Pagulayan (Superman: Lost), Lan Medina (Fables, Superior Spider-Man), and more! A number of artists will also be selling prints of their works, and accepting commission requests, so if you’ve ever wanted Pol Medina, Jr. to sketch his Pugad Baboy characters as The Avengers, now’s your chance!
Hot Toys, Lego, Bandai, Good Smile Company, Tomica, Kotobukiya, and more will definitely tempt collectors’ hearts (and wallets) with an extraordinary lineup of toys and collectibles highlighting popular characters and franchises. Retailers will be backed up by exhibits of fan groups, showcasing their collections through the years.
At the same time, comic collectors will be in Heaven as the likes of Comic Odyssey and Filbars will be bringing their best in single issues and trade paperbacks to get signed from your favorite artists. Each exhibitor will also feature event-specific promos, discounts, and bundles you won’t find anywhere else, so get your shelves (and wallets) ready!
Ever had the perfect tshirt design in mind and wished someone would make it? Stop wishing, and make your own original fashion statement with UTMe! at the Uniqlo booth. Let your imagination run wild by combining photos, artwork, images, and text – the sky’s the limit! Best of all, once your one-of-a-kind design is complete, you can have it printed onto a Uniqlo shirt or tote on the spot!
If you’re looking for inspiration, poster artist J.P. Cuison will be taking to the SuperManila stage to discuss, “Sketch to Life”, where he walks you through the steps to go from sketch to real-world fashion!
Ever wondered what Bob Layton thought about drawing Tony Stark as an alcoholic, or how Artgerm designs his covers? What was Mike Zeck thinking when he drew Spider-Man in his black outfit? Wonder no more and ask them yourself as SuperManila’s Special Guests take to the stage to discuss their most famous works and give insights into their respective processes!
There will also be trivia games, presentations on Gundam, Transformers, sneak peeks of upcoming local animation projects, games, and more! There will even be model-building workshops for kids, where they can learn to build their favorite dinosaurs, Gunpla, Warhammer, and Pokemon!
One of the best parts of any comic con is the exclusives, and SuperManila 2024 doesn’t disappoint, introducing a jaw-droppingly gorgeous edition of Transformers #1 with a cover drawn by Von Randal (Spawn), with colors and inks by Rex Espino (WILDC.A.T.S.) and Elmer Santos (Red Sonja). Limited to 1,000 copies to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary, Transformers fans old and new will want to get their hands on this exciting issue!
Internationally renowned designer Quiccs, known for his memorable collaborations with brands such as Adidas and Jollibee, will be launching his own SuperManila exclusive in the form of his signature TeQ63 character decked out in colors immediately familiar to fans of Deadpool & Wolverine. Dubbed, “Renold and Rogan”, these figures will drop exclusively at SuperManila, and be made available via lottery at the event.
Entrance tickets for SuperManila are available at www.supermanila.ph or in-person at the event. Each ticket comes with an exclusive SuperManila string bag with coupons and goodies inside!
Comic Cons don’t get much more Super than this – like Wolverine himself said, LFG!
