Live, Loud, and Limitless: 8 Takeaways from the 2025 PRSP Student Congress Grand Prix

Nov 14, 2025   •   8List Editor

If there’s one thing the future of PR proved last week, it’s that the next generation of storytellers is more than ready to take the spotlight. The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) gathered students and educators from different institutions for the 2025 PRSP Student Congress Grand Prix — its first face-to-face run since the pandemic — turning Nov 6 & 7 into two days packed with ideas, industry wisdom, and a whole lot of creative energy.

The congress wrapped with De La Salle–College of St. Benilde Antipolo clinching the top spot for their project “ABakaDawTotoo,” but the real win was the treasure trove of insights shared by some of the country’s leading PR pros. If you’re an aspiring communicator (or already in the field and trying to keep up), here are the key takeaways worth bookmarking to help you craft smarter stories and cut through today’s chaotic media landscape:

1. Authenticity will always cut through the noise

In a world saturated with content, trying to be something you aren’t or riding on trends is ineffective. People connect with realness, not perfection.

2. The best communicators are the most adaptive

It’s not about being the fastest, it’s about being the most effective. Considering the platform and audience first helps you tailor your story and deliver the message effectively.

3. Platforms change, but principles don’t

While the dominant media platforms have evolved from print to social media, the core principles of PR — such as building reputations and fostering relationships — remain the same.

4. Trust is the currency of modern influence

Nowadays, people increasingly trust influencers and content creators, perceiving them as more authentic than traditional institutions. Their perceived integrity gives their voice weight when recommending products or promoting ideas.

5. Be clear, concise, and correct

In a world overloaded with information, having a message that is easily understood, straight to the point, and factually accurate is paramount. PR professionals work in the public domain, so fluff, jargon, or errors instantly erode credibility.

6. It’s not about the reach count, it’s about reaching the people who count

Massive views or followers are meaningless unless they translate to engagement, action, or impact among the target audience. Focusing on a few people who are vital to realizing your goal is far more valuable than having it seen by thousands who don’t care.

7. Protect the truth

In an era defined by misinformation and “fake news,” the PR professional’s role in shaping perception demands providing reliable information and calling out untruths.

8. We are called to connect

The job of a PR professional goes beyond getting a story out; it must pierce the human heart. It’s about creating meaningful discussions and emotional impact that leads to action and change. After all, good communication informs, great communication inspires.

The PR profession is built on ethical responsibility, genuine connection, and targeted impact. By applying these lessons, you, the aspiring PR professional, are now well-equipped to navigate and survive the complex modern media landscape.

Now go out there, Storyteller!
