Go Touch Grass: 8 October Events Worth Leaving the House For

Oct 2, 2026   •   Edgardo Toledo

We love a good bed-rotting session as much as anyone, but sometimes you have to remember there’s a whole world beyond the four corners of your room. Luckily, Metro Manila isn’t short on activities you can swap your usual routine for. Here are exciting activities that’ll give you something to talk about besides your friend group chat’s juiciest gossip and why your office crush hasn’t noticed your DMs.

1. KapeCon 2026

Building on last year’s wildly successful KapeCon, this two-day celebration promises a whirlwind of electrifying events and hands-on adventures. Expect standout coffee competitions like ‘Kape’t Kamay Breakdown’, where inventive brewers join forces (quite literally) to craft their best brews.

Attendees can also expect panel discussions, exclusive tasting sessions, interactive brewing workshops, and vibrant direct-trade showcases that bring you face-to-face with passionate producers.

DATES: October 10 to 11
TIME: 8 AM to 10 PM
WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: Admission is FREE. Reserve a ticket on KapeCon 2026’s Eventbrite page.
LOCATION: Paseo de Roxas Street along Ayala Triangle, Salcedo Village, Makati

2. Art Picnic

Art Picnic is a fun, low-pressure creative session that makes for a pretty solid weekend side quest. Whether you’re the uber artsy-whimsy type with a sketchbook or someone simply looking for a new thing to try with friends, Art Picnic is your excuse to bring out your inner artist.

DATES: October 17, Saturday
TIME: 10 AM to 9 PM
WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: TBA
LOCATION: 6th floor East Wing, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, EDSA cor. Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong

3. Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) exhibition, Traverse: Creativity in Motion

This year’s Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) exhibition, Traverse: Creativity in Motion, invites you to explore nearly 100 paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media masterpieces, each offering a fresh take on what it means to connect as humans.

Among the works on view are those of the three MADE Grand Awardees, selected from hundreds of submissions by artists nationwide: Aldrin B. Olaguir (sculpture), Kennette A. Luague (mixed media), and Vince Martin A. Macatangay (oil or Acrylic on canvas).

DATE: Until October 18, Sunday
TIME/SCHEDULE:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 11 AM to 6 PM
  • Saturday to Sunday: 10 AM to 6 PM

WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: Admission is FREE
LOCATION: The Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

4. Fisher Box Office’s October Fri-Dates

Who said your Friday night always has to mean sitting alone at a crowded restaurant or doomscrolling on TikTok at home? That era ends for the remaining Fridays of October, at least. Fisher Box Office’s ‘October Fri-Dates’ gives you another fun way to kick off your R&R: catching films on the big screen with a warm, buttery bucket of popcorn

Even better if you have a movie buddy to go with because you can get TWO movie tickets for the price of one!

DATES: October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30
TIME/SCHEDULE:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Friday to Saturday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: Fisher Mall’s Regular Cinema counters.
LOCATIONS:

  • Fisher Mall Quezon Avenue: Quezon Avenue, corner Roosevelt Avenue, Quezon City
  • Fisher Mall Malabon: C-4 Road, corner Dagat-dagatan Avenue, Brgy. Longos

REMINDER: The promo is only valid for walk-in or over-the-counter transactions.

5. Ayala Museum’s Lolo Marcelo: The Man Behind the Hero (Reflections on the Legacy of Marcelo H. Del Pilar) exhibition

You probably know Marcelo H. Del Pilar as a reformist, the “Father of Philippine Journalism,” and the figure behind La Solidaridad, but there’s actually more to him beyond what textbooks have told us.

Lolo Marcelo: The Man Behind the Hero at Ayala Museum offers a look at the national hero who was also a husband, father, and Filipino who spent years away from his family. The exhibit features personal letters, historical artifacts, and artworks curated by his great-great-great-grandson, Pax Pineda.

DATES: Until October 18
TIME: Tuesday to Sunday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: Admission is FREE.
LOCATION: 2nd Floor Lobby of Ayala Museum’s Diorama Experience Gallery

6. Japanese Film Festival 2026

The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2026 is back and ready to bring Japanese cinema closer to Filipino cinephiles, boasting a curated selection of 16 films spanning cult classics, contemporary releases, and acclaimed animation that continue to resonate across generations.

DATES & VENUES:

  • October 16 to 25 (SM Manila and SM Cebu)
  • October 9 to 18 (SM Baguio)

WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: Admission is FREE. Tickets are available at designated JFF ticket booths at assigned SM Cinemas.

REMINDER: Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

7. Wet Market: Art Market

Now in its third year, Wet Market: Art Market is bringing Marikina’s creative community together for a two-day celebration of local art, brands, food, and good vibes. Expect plenty to browse, eat, and discover as you wander through the market. Come for the art, and leave with something you absolutely didn’t plan on buying. That’s what side quests are for, right?

DATES: October 17 to 18
WHERE TO REGISTER/GET TICKETS: TBA
LOCATION: Marikhain Studio at Lamuan, Marikina

8. Certified Bops: The International Acts Headlining Manila Arenas This October

Who doesn’t enjoy concerts? It’s one of the few places left where thousands of strangers can sing and scream at the top of their lungs without judgment. October is shaping up to be a busy month (in a good way) for international pop music in Metro Manila, with award-winning global acts such as Charlie Puth (October 14), Louis Tomlinson (October 17), and Zara Larsson (October 30) performing across the capital region’s premier arenas.

REMINDER: Always check the schedules, venues, ticket details, and of course, your wallet before purchase.
