Tired of Doomscrolling? Let These Pinoy Puzzles and Word Games Become Your Next Online Obsession

Aug 26, 2026   •   Ina Louise Manto

We usually end up doomscrolling after a long day of work or while stuck in traffic. We crave more third spaces so we can spend more time offline, but the four corners of our screens are the easiest, simplest semblance of a relaxing break we can get. However, spending time on your phone doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Your screen time can still be productive, especially when you find the right online spaces. So if you’re someone meaning to shift the way you spend your screen time, these Pinoy puzzles might be for you:

Dugtong

If you grew up playing Boggle or you’ve already unlocked several levels on the Word Hunt app, you’re going to love this Filipino version of it. Dugtong features a different theme each day, making the puzzle more exciting. Unlike other games, you have unlimited guesses without losing points. And if you can’t get enough of it, you can go back and solve the previous days’ puzzles and select from different categories.

Play Dugtong here.

Bugtong

“Bugtong, bugtong, hindi magkarugtong…” While that’s the typical Bugtong we grew up with, this version features a cryptic crossword puzzle with two hints. There are no time limits, so you’re free to solve it as long as you can.

Play Bugtong Cryptic here.

Lalawigan

How much do you know about our country’s 82 provinces? This is for the geography geeks who aced memorizing maps in school, because this puzzle will let you put it to the test. Lalawigan allows you to take a guess on the day’s featured province, beginning with a random guess to get closer to the correct answer. The distance to the correct answer is also color-coded: malayo, malapit, napakalapit, and tumpak.

You can also take the more challenging version of the game, where the map of the country has no borders; the ultimate test for your memory and knowledge of provinces and regions.

Play Lalawigan here.

Filipino Wordle

Seeing Wordle is like riding a time machine to the days we were in lockdown, when the online game went viral. But what if it was in Tagalog? Just like the original The New York Times Wordle, you will have six chances to narrow down the featured word of the day. Do you know enough four-letter Filipino words to solve the daily puzzle?

Play Filipino Wordle here.

All these fun, challenging Pinoy puzzles are the brainchild of local developer John Mark, who also shares videos of how he solves the daily puzzles. So if you get frustrated and can’t figure it out, you can easily find a guide through his Instagram and YouTube. While you’re at it, you may send tips through a QR code to let him know you’re enjoying his games.
