Vote transmissions were also the fastest in the 2016 elections since the country started its automated elections in 2010. By 8pm, transmission was already at 60%. By 10:50 pm, they were at 74%. In contrast, transmissions were only at 23% and 17% in 2013 and 2010, respectively.“Simple lang, as I said pinag-aralan namin yung 2010 at 2013. Saan ba malakas yung signal? Saan mahina yung signal? Nung 2016, gumawa din kami ng sariling site survey para malaman kung ano ba dapat,” said Bautista about the polling body’s preparations.
Bataan is experiencing yet another historical moment as an out transgender woman enters Congress in Bataan. By a 40,000 difference against her opponent, Geraldine Roman plans on expanding the infrastructure and medical capabilities of local hospitals in Bataan for the next 6 years. Teen loveteam KathNiel, made up of KAthryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, received serious shade online as photos of them posing with their ballots (which is illegal) hit the web. Some even said that the loveteam should be arrested. Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that Padilla and Bernardo didn’t do anything wrong as the ballots in the photos appeared to be unshaded and that the photos were from the media, not the celebrities themselves. “Parang nakita ko ‘yun sa Facebook ng pamangkin ko, wala naman shade ‘yun. Ang voter po bawal magdala ng cellphone. Kung iba ang nag-picture sa kanya, obviously hindi siya kumuha sa sarili niya. Tingnan natin ang circumstances ha, baka kasi may iba pang facts pero sa ngayon… ‘yun lang nangyari bago bumoto gumanun (posed for a photo). It does not violate the secrecy of the ballot,” Jimenez said to the media.
Sandro Marcos, son of Ferdinand Marcos, was reported to have shaded two presidential names in his ballot, deeming it invalid by the polling body.
