So this little thing called the San Diego Comic Con happened last week, and over the weekend global geekdom was treated to updates on our favorite Marvel and DC properties.
Ignore the “vs” in the title; it’s perfectly fine to enjoy both without degenerating into fisticuffs or flame wars. But if you’re the sort who needs to make frame by frame comparisons of why your fandom is better than others, here’s a handy list that collects them all in one spot:
Mike Colter stars in the third of Marvel’s Netflix properties. This teaser shows the untreatable Luke Cage walking down the streets of Harlem, fighting bad guys and being impervious to bullets, to the tune of ODB’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.” As one does.
Marvel’s Luke Cage premieres September 30 on Netflix.
This brief teaser gives us a glimpse of Danny Rand’s accidental foray into K’un Lun and subsequent return to New York City. It also assures us that Finn Jones has a career, post-Game of Thrones. (A Defenders teaser is also premiered, but it’s barely more than a title card, so it stays off our list).
Marvel’s Iron Fist is scheduled to premiere in 2017.
Fargo series creator Noah Hawley takes on the X-universe with Legion, the first of three tv spinoffs in development. Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) stars as David Haller, a diagnosed schizophrenic who’s beginning to realize that the voices in his head may be real after all.
Legion is scheduled to premiere on FX in early 2017.
The new trailer features more of The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) schooling Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), an extended look at Mads Mikkelsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor cracking a joke.
Doctor Strange premieres late October/early November 2016.
