Introducing Baked Samgyup, the New Talk of the Town — Here’s Where to Order

Jul 25, 2020   •   Meryl Medel

This lockdown unlocked our creativity in the kitchen, which is why we saw so many food trends come and go over these four months. From the early days of Dalgona coffee and last month’s sushi bake to the more recent milky cheese donuts and Korean minimalist cakes, we’ve already tried a lot. But maybe this one would satisfy that craving for grilled meat and soft rice and kimchi wrapped in lettuce, because baked samgyupsal is here. It’s essentially made up of layers of your favorite things in samgyupsal: grilled meat (could be pork or beef!), rice (usually kimchi fried rice!), and cheese sauce, all wrapped to be wrapped in nori. It’s like bringing home that samgyup grill — without all the fuss and mess and long waiting game. Check out where you can get in on this new food trend below.

Malinao Kitchen’s bestseller is their Cheesy Samgyup Bake, made up of layers of kimchi rice, your choice of pork or beef, and their ooey-gooey special cheese sauce and red sauce, then topped with sesame seeds. It’s indeed drool-worthy.

Their specialty is the Beef Bulgogi Samgyupsal Bake, made up of layers of kimchi fried rice, beef bulgogi strips, cheese sauce, and nori. You can choose from two sizes: a DUO (good for 1 to 2 pax) or an ARMY (good for 6 to 8 pax). Fun fact: Bake That Samgyup is actually named after one of the world’s biggest superstars — yup, the owners said stan BTS.

Make your celebration extra special with us! We are still accepting orders for this weekend, July 18-19. Future events? Special occasion? Send us a message for more info.

A post shared by The Saturn Street (@thesaturnstreet) on Jul 14, 2020 at 6:52pm PDT

Unlike most of the businesses in this list, The Saturn Street didn’t start out to sell baked samgyup. In fact, they’ve been around for a while (2012!) before this food trend even became a thing. So if you want some variety — whether it be sushi bake, cheesy baked salmon, or some crispy lechon kawali — get to ordering! And when you want something sweet, try their Basque Burnt Cheesecake (another food trend that seems to be growing!).

Also, their baked samgyup comes with fresh lettuces, so you can really get into that samgyup experience you’ve been missing since the start of the lockdown.
