7 ~Spoiler-Free~ Easter Eggs, Cameos, and References in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (+1 Bonus Clue)

Aug 7, 2024   •   Meryl Medel

Let’s f—king go! Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine has proven itself to be the most chaotic, witty, and action- and cameo-packed film of the year. With its iconic fight scenes, cool and sometimes ironic music (hi hi hi NSYNC!), and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it references, cameos, and easter eggs, those who have watched it continue to rave about the wit of the movie and the level of fan service it gave both comics and franchise fans. Honestly, I personally would love to watch it again and again, and I’ve gone to the cinemas a couple of times just to try to catch all the easter eggs. (Can’t wait til it’s on Disney+ so I can rewatch it to my heart’s content!)

No worries though. There won’t be any spoilers here except for this one: Deadpool & Wolverine is a must-watch on the big screen, preferably with friends with whom you can gasp, laugh, and exclaim “I understood that reference” à la Steve Rogers.

Excelsior!

You cannot have an MCU cameo without the OG Stan Lee. From a FedEx delivery man in Captain America: Civil War to a Watcher in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, his less-a-few-seconds appearance has become part of the lore and charm of the MCU, and this movie continues that tradition. What will he be this time around? Keep your eyes peeled!

Let’s go and eat shawarma

As a nod to Avengers, the first and arguably most iconic group superhero movie of all time, the chaotic duo Deadpool and Wolverine grabbed shawarma, after a world-saving battle. Is this a way of saying they will be making their own group of superheroes soon? Will we be seeing more of Deadpool and Wolverine in action?

Lady in red

One of the mysteries fans were so eager to unfold when the movie’s trailer first came out was the identity of the Lady Deadpool character. Who is behind the mask? If you’re one of those who placed your bets on Taylor Swift, then sorry but you just lost money.

All we can tell you is that it’s someone you know and love and that you won’t be disappointed. But it’s not just her you should watch out for – Kidpool and Babypool are just as big superstars and you will be surprised when you discover who they are behind the mask. Stay tuned to the screen until the credits to find out!

Man of Steel? In this universe?

Iconic as it may seem, there won’t be a crossover between the two cinematic universes in this movie. There is, however, a face from the neighboring universe who found himself within the MCU, but he wouldn’t be wearing his iconic red cape. He also won’t be using his laser eyes to fight his enemies nor would he be able to fly in this one. What he could do is wield a pair of claws, probably.

Flame on!

Guaranteed to make the entire cinema go crazy, this familiar face, a mighty, worthy, and very well-loved character seems to be from a different reality altogether. Still donning red and blue sans his shield, this revelation will surely make even the least knowledgeable about the MCU go “What?”

The clone returns

The Wolverine in Wade Wilson’s world, AKA the variant that he needs, is unavailable, to say the least. The one that he found is reluctant, moody, and completely uninterested in helping him until a particular person convinces him. Who could it be? All we can say is that she’s all grown up.

Honoring the fans and the comics

That yellow suit Wolverine is wearing is not a random costume choice. In fact, this Wolverine’s look marks the most accurate depiction of this brute superhero on-screen so far, as how Stan Lee envisioned him. Other comic references are the several Wolverines from different universes, including the short king Wolverine (he’s 5 foot 3 inches tall in the comics), Weapon Omega Wolverine, and the version of Wolverine fighting The Incredible Hulk.

Bonus clue

Because you made it here, here’s a bonus spoiler: watch out for the ‘Huge Jacked Man’!

If you still haven’t seen it, it’s time to head to the cinemas and brace yourself for the only MCU movie of the year. Now showing in cinemas nationwide, Deadpool & Wolverine will have you laughing, reminiscing, geeking out, and wanting more of the unlikely but iconic duo.
