Last weekend, four presidential candidates graced The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews, where Filipinos got to know them a little better. During the program, Senator Ping Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Vice President Leni Robredo sat opposite award-winning GMA News journalist Jessica Soho and answered her hard-hitting questions. The program ran for almost three hours, and to say that the program was enlightening is an understatement. Millions of Filipinos got to hear about the candidates’ different platforms, how they stand on certain important state issues, and even get a glimpse of their knowledge and intellect concerning various topics.

Afterward, Filipinos camped on Twitter to share their key takeaways and opinions on the whole thing. But while we’re impressed (or disappointed) with our presidentiables, there was one woman who shone brightly — Ms. Jessica Soho herself. Here are the Internet’s funniest reactions to Soho doing a smashing job like a boss:

After the program aired, netizens took to Twitter to pour praises on the way Soho handled the interview. Many likened her to that one thesis panelist we all had in college who would ask the hard questions and make us sweat. But it’s only appropriate that those vying for the highest position in the country would be confronted with difficult questions. That way, Filipino voters know exactly who’s worth voting for.

Like we said before, presidential aspirants need to be asked the hard questions so their constituents know their intentions. Soho put them in the spotlight and that’s not easy. But how they answer — eloquence, confidence, knowing what they’re talking about — has the power to influence many people to vote for them.

And finally, that one Netflix mention that had everyone laughing

Everyone paid particular attention to something Lacson said. He previously changed his stance on the death penalty despite advocating for it before. The reason? He saw The Life of David Gayle on Netflix, a story about an activist who set himself up for a crime to prove that innocent people could be wrongly punished. The Internet is simply astounded about how a single Netflix binge could apparently change a presidential aspirant’s opinion on something so important.
