8 Hilarious Tweets About The (Not Actually Hilarious) Oregon Militia Takeover

Jan 7, 2016   •   Tim Henares

Hilarious Tweets about the Oregon Militia Takeover

In case you missed it, there is currently a militia takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge, which is government property. Reportedly, an armed group of men led by Ammon Bundy—yes, the son of Cliven Bundy, who had his own standoff in 2014.

Now, we could call out the elephant in the room and mention that so many people are tiptoeing around and trying not to call this an act of terrorism when it clearly is, all because the people carrying out happen to be white. That being said, the internet is nowhere nearly as charitable, as hashtags such as #YallQaeda, #MealTeamSix, and #VanillaISIS are trending all over the place, leading to hilarious tweets from people who will not brook these shenanigans and pretend it’s just some wacky hillbilly hi-jinx.

Someone needs to point out that while people are making light of this issue online, only certain political factions are actually taking this issue as a non-serious matter: they are on federal property, they are armed, and they are dangerous. It’s just fortunate nobody was around the refuge when they took it over, but the minute the government tries taking it back, you just know this will escalate.

Don’t worry Oregon I’ve got this one covered. #YallQaeda pic.twitter.com/76vCf0NZiL

It’s a bit apt to note that the militia have more guns than supplies as they carry out this standoff, and are asking people online for snacks. Wouldn’t that fall under aiding and abetting?

7. Vanilla ISIS, baby!

Stop Mobilize and listen #VanillaISIS back w/ a brand new militia BLM grab the land so tightly Illegally graze my cattle nightly #YallQaeda

Rap lyrics soothe the soul.

6. Speaking of snacks…

The Oregon occupiers need snacks and apparently are asking for supplies to be sent…via mail. The mail that the government delivers.

— Kevin Murphy (@bigrightfoot) January 4, 2016

Not the brightest bulbs in the hardware store, are they?

5. It’s funny ‘cause it’s true…

Saying these terrorists are militia men invoking the 2nd amendment is like lying under oath and claiming it’s freedom of speech #YallQaeda

— Altif Brown (@altifbrown) January 4, 2016

Well, it’s true. Maybe not funny, so much as it’s painfully obvious.

4. That’s better.

Currently #YallQaeda is engaged in an act of #YeeHawd in rural Oregon in defense of arsonists. If successfully they will get 72 strippers.

Have we checked the opinion poles yet? Heh. Poles.

3. Looks like we made it. Look how far we’ve come, my baby…

#YallQaeda follows a strict interpretation of Shania law.

— Brienne of Snarth (@femme_esq) January 3, 2016

If you get that reference, you’re probably old.

2. The irony.

Need we say more? Well, just one more thing.

1. Technically, this was also on Twitter, but…

dysentery to the rescue. #YallQaeda #vanillaISIS

It’s just much more hilarious as a picture…
