Sad news for Spotify users! Over the past couple of days, users have received a notification upon opening the app, stating that the price of Spotify Premium is increasing. This move follows a global trend for Spotify, which has already increased prices in other countries like the US.

In contrast to its free version, Spotify Premium provides a better listening experience to its users. Premium users can enjoy better music quality, ad-free skip-all-you-want listening experience, offline listening, and cross-border listening (i.e. you can listen to your music nearly anywhere in the world).

According to Spotify’s website, the new prices of its Premium plans are as follows:

• Student – PHP 75 per month, which is an increase of PHP 10 from PHP 65
• Individual – PHP 149 per month, which is an increase of PHP 20 from PHP 129
• Duo – PHP 199 per month, which is an increase of PHP 30 from PHP 169. With two users in one plan, the plan is worth PHP 99.5 per month per person, in contrast to the previous PHP 84.5.
• Family – PHP 239 per month, which is an increase of PHP 55 from PHP 194. Since this plan allows up to 6 users, the price becomes PHP 40 per month per user in contrast to the previous PHP 38.33.

When is the Spotify Premium price hike taking effect?

Most of the existing Premium users who have received the notification will be affected by the price change in their billing for January 2024. But this doesn’t apply to everyone.

Existing users will have a two-month grace period, which may vary per user. It’s best to check your Spotify account settings to find out the specific billing date this change will take effect for you.
