Taylor Swift Songs to Start Your Streaming Party on Spotify

Jul 4, 2017   •   Kyzia Maramara

Taylor Swift has just uploaded her discography on Spotify 3 years after taking it down. I don’t know about you but when I heard the news, I immediately saved all the albums! It’s just almost been three weeks and Taylor’s Spotify account has had 16,964,704 listens. Of course we expected nothing less from a great artist like her.

It’s a hard pick veering away from her most popular tracks but here’s a mixture of the new and the old to get your streaming party started!

1. Teardrops on my Guitar

Via YouTube: TaylorSwiftVEVO

Anybody remember when Taylor was just starting as an artist and only about 2% of the world population knew about her? You’d feel so cool listening to her on imeem.com or Limewire and Teardrops on my Guitar was one of the songs that you really liked. Did you especially love the music video? How can Drew not pick Taylor?!

2. Fearless

You’ve probably felt in love at least once while listening to Taylor Swift. It doesn’t matter if you’re not in a relationship at the moment, she’ll just make you feel like you’re in love with her songs! I don’t know why but with you I’ll dance in a storm in my best dress, fearless! Erm.. too cheesy?

3. You Belong With Me

Via YouTube: TaylorSwiftVEVO

Yep, Taylor plays both girls in the music video, if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t noticed it yet. That must be her imagining life with an evil twin. This song gave confidence to girls who only wear sneakers and shirts – the people they like will like them back! Of course we all know that whatever your choice of footwear, the person who’s meant to be with you will like you regardless. Erm.. cheesy.

4. All Too Well

If you haven’t watched her 2014 Red Tour Manila performance to this song then I guess you’re missing a lot. This song, along with a couple of other songs, was rumored to be about Jake Gyllenhaal, one of Taylor’s exes. We don’t know if it’s true but girl this is one hugot song!

5. How You Get The Girl

Aren’t you glad that some great songs aren’t that popular because then it could be like your little secret? It’s this 1989 number, How You Get The Girl! What a hidden gem that fortunately, hasn’t gone mainstream. So hidden that it has no official audio on YouTube – no version where Taylor sings. I guess you just have to download her album huh?

6. Last Kiss

Via YouTube: João Pedro OF

It’s a known fact that Taylor writes songs with people in mind, specifically her exes and this very dramatic, feels-trip song is no exception.  Because we know who Style and Out of the Woods are for and we know who Dear John is for, should we also know who Last Kiss is for? According to the internet, signs point to Joe Jonas who broke up with Taylor in a 27-second phone call, the exact length of the song’s intro.. and some other lyrics proving it.

7. Breathe

In this number, Taylor sings duet with Colbie Calliat, another great artist, on a song about missing somebody. This is the type of song you should avoid listening to when you’ve just been through a break up because it might make you cry. You made us feel, Tay, you made us feel.

8. Love Story

Love Story is probably her most classic song of all time. Who does not know the lyrics to this song? This is where the Taylor Swift craze started and what a lovely music video it has. I’ve always thought that Love Story is timeless, it’s one of the songs you will never be sick of. It’s a curse!

I just know that you wanted to listen to Taylor after reading this article! How about it, huh Swifties?

Kyzia spends most of her time capturing the world around her through photos, paragraphs, and playlists. She is constantly on the hunt for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, and a great paperback thriller to pair with it.
