Throughout our day, we would find ourselves needing to be energized to finish our tasks. Just a little push and we’re done! Bring on the next one! But short of having a drill master screaming within earshot, we often find ourselves wondering how the hell we can get through the day?

We experience these drop and dips at the worst possible moments, and we’ll do, eat, or drink anything to keep ourselves up. Such moments are:

 

8. When you know you gotta hit the gym

That last slice of pizza really did a number on your waistline and you know you have got to hit the gym. But for some reason, you drag your heels at the thought of sweating it out even if the gym is just a few meters away from you. Help!

 

7. When you’re stuck in rush hour traffic

It is tough to get psyched after spending three to four hours on your butt through the metro’s thoroughfares. Sure, you may get up feeling ‘I’m the king of the world!’ but traffic can suck the soul out of you. We feel you, bud.

We all know it’s an uphill battle coming to work just as refreshed as when you stepped out of the shower. Oftentimes we’d find ourselves spent by squeezing, elbowing and tiptoeing our way through crowds just to get to our ride, and do the same again when we need to alight. 5. After eating a hearty lunch

At first, you think eating will keep your mind and body alert, but it never seems to work in the early afternoon. Blame it on the siestas you’ve grown accustomed to when you were younger, or the biological validation of the post-lunch dip phenomenon. When your next class is a 15-minute brisk walk from where you are, it can be difficult finding motivation and willpower to get your butt moving. Sometimes, it’s enough motivation to skip class.

It would take a miracle to get through that presentation you admittedly lost sleep over without the panelists noticing your droopy eyes, slurred words, and you spacing out on them. Don’t wait for their criticisms to slap you in the face to wake you up.

By then you’ve probably realized why you felt so drowsy the entire day in the first place, but you can’t afford to go to bed early seeing how much schoolwork you procrastinated because you were “too tired” to do it during the day.
