8 All-Original Shows We’d Love to See After “Alyas Robin Hood”

Recently, we were treated to the shocking news that, shortly after his character in Encantadia was written off, veteran GMA star Dingdong Dantes is now getting ready to play a new character in a new series: Alyas Robin Hood. Let’s take a gander at the poster.
We’ve never seen this before, no siree.
This looks mighty familiar, doesn’t it?
Of course not! Nothing alike!
Now, for the sake of argument, let’s assume that the poster was fan-made. Does that really change anything? Hardly. Pinoy Teleseryes have been stuck in a rut lately, and it shows when you either have to remake your last big hit, or rip something off entirely. Much like this.
Here’s the thing, though: if you’re gonna rip off something, who’s to say you can’t actually make something special out of it? Maybe the way to “level up” to Hollywood quality is to start by stealing Hollywood’s ideas, then making something of them, or are we going to just put up with yet another love triangle involving the rich girlfriend, the haciendero, and the kindly kasambahay? Who knows, right?
With this new trend coming up, it only stands to reason that we can most likely anticipate the next few “all-original” shows coming out in Philippine television in the near future. Really awesome and new stuff, such as…
Starring: Alden Richards
Unique Selling Point: Imagine a fight scene at super speed happening in scenic Filipino tourist spots. Maybe a chase around the Rice Terraces, speeding all the way to Sagada, to Palawan, to Davao, to Cebu, then ending in Luneta? You’re welcome, DOT. Also, expect this to crossover quite a bit with Alyas Robin Hood, for obvious reasons.
Starring: Ryan Rems
Synopsis: Rap en roll to the world!
Unique Selling Point: I don’t know about you, but taking the story of the streets and the origins of Pinoy hip hop and making a pseudo period piece about it is something I would genuinely want to watch. The local scene is colorful and has tons upon tons of stories we probably wouldn’t believe if we heard.

Starring: Jessica Soho
A hat tip to this guy on Twitter.
Humanda kayo!
Unique Selling Point: Jessica Soho as a superhero. My cup runneth over. Just think of the possibilities, and the endless cameos the rest of GMA’s news and public affairs team could do! What if someone convinced Mike Enriquez to play the big bad villain of the series?!?
Starring: Aga Muhlach, Lea Salonga
Unique Selling Point: If you remember Aga and Lea when you hear the words “Sana Maulit Muli” and not Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, then you know why I think these two would make an awesome pair as a husband and wife who are hellbent on occupying Malacañang Palace, whatever means it takes. It’s a challenge that I could only imagine both Aga and Lea would succeed at with flying colors, and give both of them the kind of credibility actors not named Jacklyn Jose or Joel Torre can only dream of.
