A marriage isn’t a prerequisite for a long-lasting relationship. But it still gives us hope to see celebrities who were paired together as love teams—the entertainment industry’s manufactured kilig moneymakers—even if it was just once or a team up that lasted for years, go from reel to real and end up at the altar. Here are some reel couples that ended up walking down the aisle for real.
From ABS-CBN’s Krystala to starring in blockbuster romcoms like Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, Judy Ann and Ryan have been together for almost 15 years. The father of three talks about how he knew Juday was ‘the one’ in this now-viral IG post, tagged #storiesforlucho.
This pair takes it back all the way to the OG Mara Clara days, a show that started its run in 1992. In a recent video interview, Gladys recalls that she knew he was the one even as early as then. The reel-to-real couple have been together for 26 years (14 as a married couple). The couple renewed their vows last year for their 25th anniversary as a couple.
Drew and Iya played Gilbert and Sydney on GMA’s teen-oriented show Click, back in 2003. Back then, it was Iya who asked the DTR question. After ten years together, they finally tied the knot in 2014. Iya and Drew regularly update their IG stories with their life, resulting in an even bigger following—their eldest, Primo, is already proving to be quite the Instagram celebrity.
The couple starred in the local adaptation of Marimar in 2007 and began dating a year later. In 2014, Dingdong proposed publicly on Marian’s dance show. Later, the couple revealed he had actually already proposed in private two years prior. Marian and Dingdong married in 2014 and now have two children.
Manilyn and Aljon starred in Shake, Rattle, and Roll IV’s Ang Guro. They have been married for 23 years, and been together for 28. Aljon is now Manilyn’s manager, and the actress quips that their contract lasts ‘forever’.
After meeting in Pinoy Big Brother in 2009, Melai and Jason—dubbed ‘Melason’—continued their relationship off screen and married in 2013. They even starred in a show named after their portmanteau. As a relationship truly born in the public eye, the couple have been candid with their separation, reconciliation, and problems.
The action star and singer/actress starred in Ganti ng Api in 1991 and got married two years later. Married for 25 years, the pair will celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary this December.
Eddie met Rosemarie at her first movie, where he was asked to sing during the intermission. Too shy to approach her, he asked her mother for a picture of Rosemarie. Later on, the pair starred in their first movie together—Aawitan Kita—which is where their courtship started.
They separated in the 70s and after sixteen years, reunited. While he has been with other women, Eddie maintains that he has only ever been in love with Rosemarie. Still together, the pair now live in the United States.
