A stark difference from reputation’s dark themes, the pastel-colored Lover will make you feel how much Taylor is in love with her boyfriend of three years, British actor Joe Alwyn. Taylor is an expert when it comes to hiding Easter eggs and clues in her lyrics and music videos and since her relationship with Joe is her most private relationship to date, fans can’t help but speculate if the couple is already engaged or perhaps secretly married.

This line comes from a song where Taylor seems to be crushing on someone *ehem* Joe. ‘Better lock it down’ could be interpreted for ‘Put a ring on it, Joe!’

Track 16: Me!

Baby doll, when it comes to a lover
I promise that you’ll never find another like me

Aside from the fact that this line mirrors the line in I Think He Knows and is Taylor saying she is the best woman for Joe, the music video for Me! also has a scene where Brendon Urie proposes to her. Ever since that video launched in April, we can’t stop thinking about it!

Track 8: Paper Rings

I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings
Darling, you’re the one I want

This line from Paper Rings is probably one of the most blatant lines out there that would make you think she is engaged. Taylor’s net worth (over $360 million) compared to Joe’s (an internet-estimated $250 thousand) would indeed seem like he’ll only be capable of buying her a paper ring. But who cares, Joe?! Taylor is willing to marry you anyway!

Track 9: Cornelia Street

I’d never walk Cornelia Street again
That’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend

Cornelia Street instantly became everyone’s favorite hopeless romantic song. Taylor sings of the time she rented an apartment in Cornelia Street, New York and where she and Joe spent their first few months together hiding from everyone. Taylor is literally saying she wouldn’t know what she would do if Joe would walk away from her.

Track 13: False God

I know heaven’s a thing
I go there when you touch me, honey
Hell is when I fight with you
But we can patch it up good

Like most of the songs in Lover, False God is about Taylor’s relationship with Joe. According to Genius user neeknoo, Taylor wrote this song comparing her relationship to “something all-powerful and greater than themselves.” But this particular line makes it sound that they’re already an old married couple!

Track 17: It’s Nice To Have a Friend

Church bells ring, carry me home
Rice on the ground looks like snow

Lover’s 17^th track is about two childhood friends growing up and getting married. Getting. Married. It almost feels as if Taylor is telling us that she married her best friend a.k.a. Joe Alwyn. Church bells? Rice on the ground you throw at newly married couples?

Track 18: Daylight

I don’t wanna look at anything else now that I saw you
And I don’t wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you

We all know Lover the album is about Joe, and Taylor has many romantic tracks obviously for him. What many might have overlooked is the subtle and sweet lyrics in the 18^th and last track, Daylight. Seven years ago when her fourth album Red was released she sang about how ‘love is burning red.’ Almost a decade later, she sings how “I once believed love would be burning red/But it’s golden/Like daylight, like daylight.”

And if that doesn’t speak about how she’s found her soulmate in Joe Alwyn then I don’t know what would.

Track 3: Lover

Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover

Last but not least is the most romantic song named after the album. The song continues to say ‘My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue / All’s well that ends well to end up with you.’ Taylor herself said this is her most favorite song out of all the songs she’s created. And why is that? It’s a testament to her love for Joe and their relationship.

Whether she’s engaged, married, or possibly only hinting at Joe to propose already, we’re still in love for them anyway!
