Every year, there’s always a slew of Christmas-themed movies that come out this time around, and despite how weird it’s been, 2020’s no different. There’s still so many films and shows set in Christmas that are being released, and while they might be cheesy, cliche, and formulaic, that’s something we appreciate right now when real life is so uncertain. We’re all just ready to kick back and relax with a cup of hot chocolate and binge these Christmas movies and shows on Netflix.
Two lonely strangers, Sloane and Jackson, are sick and tired of being single during the holidays. So when they meet each other, they agree to be each other’s platonic plus-ones — or “holidate” — for the festive occasions all year long. It seems all’s well and good. Except they catch real feelings along the way, when they promised not to fall in love with each other.
Following the 2018 Christmas film, the sequel stars Vanessa Hudgens in not just one, not two but three roles in one film. On her unexpected way to the throne to Montenaro, Duchess Margaret hits a rough patch with her boyfriend Kevin, and it’s up to her lookalike Stacy to save the day. Except another handsome royal aiming to woo Margaret and a third lookalike, Fiona, a.k.a. Margaret’s party-loving cousin, might just get in the way of Plan Get Margaret and Kevin Back Together.
This musical film follows the story of a jaded and eccentric toymaker, who was betrayed by his apprentice so many years ago but found hope and joy in his curious granddaughter after she suddenly appeared in his life.
Dash and Lily are as opposites as can be. He’s cynical. She’s optimistic. He’s realistic. She’s romantic. But one thing does bring them together: a red notebook which they use to trade dares and messages passed back and forth across New York City. Which leads to another thing they eventually have in common: feelings for each other.
To get that promotion she’s been aiming for, by-the-book political aide Erica Miller is sent to a tropical base where US Air Force Captain Andrew Jantz annually leads his unit in Operation: Christmas Drop so she can find reasons to shut down their airborne Christmas tradition. It’s up to Andrew to get her to appreciate the Christmas cheer and spirit in the base and let her fall in love.
Working with a trusty team of “elves”, interior designer Benjamin Bradley a.k.a. Mr. Christmas helps families transform their homes into holiday wonderlands.
This one’s for the jaded ones. The film follows musician Basti, who has been in a slump for a while and just recently separated from his girlfriend Fine. In an effort to distract himself and battle his holiday blues, he heads home for Christmas, which was all well and good, until his brother Nuklas shows up with his ex Fine at his side.
Since saving Christmas two years ago, siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce have changed a lot. Kate has turned into a cynical teenager, who doesn’t want to spend Christmas with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son Jack. So what does she do? She runs away. But when a mysterious magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to end Christmas once again, she’s forced to come back and work together with Jack to save Christmas.
