You’ve probably heard that YA favorite Percy Jackson is set to have a TV adaptation. After years of shouting into the ether (in our case, the internet) that the five-book series deserves to have its own movie franchise, it looks like fans are being heard. Coincidentally, while the internet is rejoicing over the new Percy Jackson development, Harry Potter, yet another well-loved series, is rumored to have a live-action series too. The internet, of course, has its own opinions.
LATEST UPDATE ON THE PERCY JACKSON TV SHOW!!

Series author Rick Riordan shared that “everyone who has read the pilot script [for Percy Jackson] loved it.” Although he acknowledges that the journey to take Percy to the small screen will take some time since top execs at Disney+ need to review everything. “All the input has been super positive and helpful, though. Everyone is committed to making this the best show we possibly can,” he wrote on his website.
Riordan first announced the live-action TV adaptation with Disney+ last May and in December, he shared a short clip of the logo. Fans are relieved he was included in the creation since the first two Percy Jackson live-action movies didn’t do so well.
A Harry Potter series is reportedly in “very early development” at HBO Max, though it’s unclear where in the Wizarding World timeline it may take place. https://t.co/yj5n0kSaMd pic.twitter.com/KsOD1xTtxO

The Percy development wasn’t the only news that shook the fandom world, apparently, HBO Max is rumored to be planning a Harry Potter live-action TV adaptation. However, before the world could digest the news, Warner Bros. and HBO Max shot down the rumors. “There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,” they told Variety. But if there would be a TV series in the future, people are not having it.
biggest crime against humanity was percy jackson not getting as big as harry potter

After eight films and a truckload of spin-offs later, people are tired of Harry Potter and his adventures. The wizarding world is cool and all but it’s time for Percy’s world of mythology to take center stage. Everyone was disappointed with the first two movie adaptations of the first two books Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (2010) and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) and are eager to be handed fresh material that stays true to literature.
No but like Percy Jackson was a better protagonist than Harry Potter in every single sense of the term he deserves more hype

Who is the better protagonist? Demigod Percy Jackson or The Boy Who Lived himself, Harry Potter? Which friends-slash-sidekicks reign supreme — Annabeth Chase and Grover or Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger? Honestly, these books are both great on their own and do not deserve to be pitted against each other. Percy probably taught you all your knowledge about Greek mythology (to the point where you can’t distinguish fiction from actual mythology) and everyone enjoyed getting lost in Harry Potter‘s complex world-building. At the end of the day, they’re both fiction.
Harry Potter was the biggest part of my childhood and if it weren’t for the fact that JK Rowling is transphobic asshole I would be so excited for this but really…..who’s even going to watch this now? What’s the point? https://t.co/h5ImGzGcfc

*sees JK Rowling trending*
oh lordt what sort of daft nonsense about trans people is she spewing now.
*reads about harry potter live action series*
oh, you want me to watch something that’s going to put MORE money in her pocket?
I think the fuck not.

Obviously, series creator JK Rowling would profit from yet another Harry Potter adaptation, dismaying everyone. Rowling has frequently made headlines for her controversial views on transgender people. This controversy could be the exact reason why executives won’t push through with a series in the first place.
Disney and Warner Bros. fighting each other in everything they can is fascinating:
Marvel vs. DC
Disney Animation vs. WB Animation
Disney+ vs. HBO Max
And now…
Percy Jackson vs. Harry PotterAnd I, for one, enjoy everything they both make. So, the only winner here is ME pic.twitter.com/r9HczU4sDq

Streaming giants are shoving franchises, spin-offs, and new series down our throats but we’re here for it anyway. So a PJ and HP series in the works could only mean one thing: we’re winning. (Or they are, if you consider the subscription fees… yikes).
percy jackson trending? now is my time to tell you to cast logan lerman as posiedon pic.twitter.com/2HkcGwFNWK
— ˗ˏˋ e ˎˊ˗ (@PERCYSLIGHT) January 25, 2021
The first two Percy Jackson movies were a waste of Logan Lerman’s acting prowess, handsomeness, and charm. He was Percy Jackson in the flesh, utterly perfect for the role, and yet cast in a flop movie. Don’t even get us started on Alexandra Daddario’s Annabeth Chase! Fans have been clamoring for both actors to be cast as Poseidon and Athena, their Greek god parents. It’s highly unlikely but a girl can dream.
honestly it’s percy jackson’s time. i love harry potter but just leave things as they are

Percy Jackson trending the day when a Harry Potter show is announced is just so beautiful, the world is ready for Percy taking over
— Ricci 💛 (@demigodtherapy) January 25, 2021
In conclusion, we love Harry Potter and the series has got a special place in our hearts. But it’s time to pass Percy Jackson the torch. We’re ready for an era of demigods taking up the small screen!
