“In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” — that’s the official theme for Met Gala 2021, officially capping off New York Fashion Week. Of course, that doesn’t mean all the A-list celebrities, fashion bigwigs, and prominent personalities will have the same interpretation of that vague theme. This sadly isn’t the 2018 Met Gala where almost everyone showed up understanding the assignment (2018 Theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination). Still, many celebs didn’t waste the opportunity to rock the red carpet in designer shiny dresses that left little to the imagination. But not Kim Kardashian, whose Met Gala 2021 look quickly became the talk of town.

Kim K showed up in head-to-toe Balenciaga, black complete with a long ponytail and an equally long train. Vogue reports her ex-husband Kanye West actually collaborated with Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia for the outfit. The show-stopping look left everyone on Twitter to interpret what it meant or, actually, make the most hilarious memes at its expense. Are we sure that’s Kim K under all that?
