It has been nearly two decades since the fantasy drama series Encantadia aired, but there are still perhaps few to no other teleseryes that topped its impact. It even spurred on a remake just eleven years after, with more becoming fans of both series. Though the 2015 remake was amazing in its own right, with new storylines and even returning actors, the original still had a different kind of mark on Philippine pop culture. So here’s where the cast of Encantadia is now:

Iza Calzado

Her role in Encantadia: Amihan, the Sangg’re of the blue Brilyante ng Hangin and later the Queen of Lireo

What she’s doing now: Following her lead role in Encantadia, Iza Calzado has played more lead roles in films and dramas, including Moments of Love, Seven Sundays, Bliss, and Culion. Her latest acting project sees her as the First Darna in the 2022 adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s Darna starring Jane de Leon.

Sunshine Dizon

Her role in Encantadia: Pirena, the Sangg’re of the red Brilyante ng Apoy who wants to conquer the world of Lireo

What she’s doing now: After gaining critical acclaim for her portrayal of Pirena, Sunshine Dizon went on to star in the lead roles in more films and dramas, such as Bakekang, Captain Barbell, La Vendetta, and All About Eve. She also joined the 2016 remake of Encantadia, assuming a new role in the character of Adhara. She last starred in a supporting role in rom-com series Marry Me, Marry You.

Karylle

Her role in Encantadia: Alena, the Sangg’re of the green Brilyante ng Tubig

What she’s doing now: Having since switched networks from GMA to ABS-CBN, the singer-actress has been a regular host in Kapamilya noontime variety shows like It’s Showtime. Her last major acting role was in 2019 when she starred in the fantasy adventure film Mystified with her fellow Encantadia Sangg’res. Last month, she released a new single entitled “Fine.”

Diana Zubiri

Her role in Encantadia: Danaya, the Sangg’re of the yellow Brilyante ng Lupa

What she’s doing now: After establishing herself as a drama actress through Encantadia, Diana Zubiri found herself starring in different projects, including Shake, Rattle & Roll X, Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan, and long-standing sitcom Bubble Gang. The actress won an award for her performance as a nurse in the 2012 film Bahay Bata and also starred in the 2016 remake of Encantadia as one of the major antagonists, LilaSari. Earlier this year, she officially moved to Australia with her husband and two kids. The actress runs a self-titled Youtube channel featuring her everyday life with her family.

Dingdong Dantes

His role in Encantadia: Ybarro / Ybrahim, the commoner warrior who was secretly a royal prince

What he’s doing now: Dingdong Dantes shot to stardom after his role in Encantadia, with his most notable role being leading man Sergio in the 2007 series Marimar alongside Marian Rivera. He would later marry the actress, with whom he now shares a daughter and a son. His latest projects include the lead roles in the Filipino adaptation of K-drama Descendants of the Sun and K-film A Hard Day. The actor is currently starring alongside his wife in the romcom TV series Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa.

Jennylyn Mercado

Her role in Encantadia: Lira / Milagros, the daughter of Amihan, hailed as the luntiae or the savior of Encantadia

What she’s doing now: After Encantadia, Jennylyn Mercado continued to establish herself as one of the top actresses in the country, with roles in hit films like Just the 3 of Us, Walang Forever, and English Only, Please. She also played lead roles in the Filipino adaptations of popular Korean dramas such as My Love from the Star and Descendants of the Sun. The actress is currently taking a break, having just welcomed the newest member of her family with husband Dennis Trillo and son Alex Jazz.

Yasmien Kurdi

Her role in Encantadia: Mira, the daughter of Pirena, who grew up believing she was Lira after being switched at birth

What she’s doing now: Following Encantadia, Yasmien Kurdi played leading roles in several hit films and shows, including the remakes Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, Saan Darating Ang Umaga?, and original shows Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka and Sa Piling ni Nanay. She recently starred in drama series Las Hermanas and is set to join the Filipino adaptation of hit K-drama Start-Up.

Mark Herras

His role in Encantadia: Anthony, the mortal man who shares romantic feelings with Lira

What he’s doing now: After the success of Encantadia, Mark Herras and then-reel-to-real partner Jennylyn Mercado starred in lead roles in a number of films and shows. Following their split, he went on to star in Bihag and Conan, My Beautician and serve as host to Starstruck, Party Pilipinas, and Party Pilipinas. His latest project is the recently concluded legal crime series Artikulo 247. Aside from acting, he also offers customization services for sneakers.
