On March 9, fifteen celebrities entered Bahay Ni Kuya to become housemates in the much-awaited reopening of the iconic yellow house. Five more joined them over the following weeks for the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition. It has only been a little over two months, but much has happened here in the so-called outside world, and most of the housemates have no clue about what’s gone down. In case you’re curious, here’s a recap of some of the big news that the PBB housemates have missed since entering Bahay Ni Kuya.

The first batch of housemates entered Bahay Ni Kuya on March 9, and just two days later, on March 11, former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested under an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant charging him with crimes against humanity related to the Philippine drug war. He has since been detained in The Hague, waiting for his trial in the International Criminal Court.
On March 10, YouTube channel Hoverlab ignited a controversy alleging that actor Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron starting in 2015 when she was 15, while he was 27. This sparked widespread backlash against Kim Soo-hyun, with accusations of grooming and an inappropriate relationship with a minor. While the actor initially denied having a relationship with the late actress, he later admitted that they dated for about a year. However, brands have since dropped him as an endorser, with a few even suing him for damages.
Around this time, the housemates have just entered the house and are still adjusting.
On April 8, Claudia Barretto married her longtime partner Basti Lorenzo in an intimate ceremony. Her estranged father Dennis Padilla later took to social media to express his hurt and disappointment for allegedly being informed of the wedding late and feeling like an outsider, stating he was invited merely as a “visitor.”

In a now-deleted post, Dennis Padilla shared a handwritten note which read: “Grabe kayo!! Nabudol ‘nyo ko! Father of the bride naging visitor! Galing ‘nyo!” This rant drew backlash from netizens, with many coming to Claudia’s defense.

On April 24, beloved show Maalaala Mo Kaya officially returned on screen with the story of The Voice US Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez.
On April 12, actress and singer-songwriter Pilita Corrales passed away at age 85.
On April 16, Nation Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor passed away at age 71.
On April 27, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4 contestant and Drag Race PH judge Jiggly Caliente passed away at age 44.
On May 1, actor and director Ricky Davao passed away at age 63.

On April 21 (Day 44 of PBB Celebrity Collab Edition), a day after Easter Sunday, the world said goodbye to Pope Francis.
After two weeks of mourning, the cardinal electors held a papal conclave on May 7 and 8, naming Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost the successor of Pope Francis. The American cardinal took the papal name Leo XIV.

During this time, in honor of Holy Week, the housemates were undergoing the weekly task “When You Say Nothing at All”, where they were only allowed a limited number of hours to speak.

On May 8, a video clip circulated online showing some members of the Filipino girl group BINI engaging in actions that some netizens deemed to be an inappropriate sexual joke. The group later released an apology statement admitting their fault. “The video shows a private moment of us with friends. We definitely did not intend to hurt anyone in the process. On May 12, Filipinos flocked to their precincts to cast their votes for senators, party lists, congressmen, and local government officers. While results are still being tallied, partial and unofficial counts prompted mixed reactions among netizens, with some remaining jaded and others pleasantly surprised and hopeful.
Though unconfirmed, many netizens speculate that the remaining housemates in Bahay Ni Kuya were unable to vote because they were not allowed to leave the house.
