We’re not just going up, up, up, but it seems we’re also going from reel to real! Because yes, we might be able to try some of the snacks and food of our favorite characters from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters real soon! Here’s what we know so far.
Taking its cultural footprint from screen to snack, K-Pop Demon Hunters is collaborating with K-food giant Nongshim to release limited-edition products featuring the film’s characters.
ICYDK, as one of the biggest Korean food companies, Nongshim produces some of the most popular instant noodles and snacks in the world, such as the iconic red ramyun cup Shin Ramyun, as well as the two instant noodles featured in Oscar-winning Parasite: spicy seafood-flavored noodles Neoguri and black bean instant noodles Chapagetti.
The collaboration will feature the film’s characters, particularly the Huntrix girls Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, as well as the Saja Boys and even the tiger Derpy.
Nongshim has teased several products in the lineup, including Shin Ramyun, Shrimp Crackers, and a newly launched Shin Ramyun Toomba All-Purpose Sauce.
Each limited-edition product will come with a K-Pop Demon Hunters-inspired package featuring artwork straight from the film. We’ve even spotted the ramyun cups that the HUNTRIX members themselves ate in the film.
“This partnership was possible thanks to fans who organically identified our products and shared their excitement,” a Nongshim spokesperson said in a statement. “As KPop Demon Hunters introduces K-culture to the world, we hope to share the authentic taste of Korean ramyeon and snacks through this unique collaboration.”
The limited-edition products will be available in Korea, North America, Europe, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. The rollout is said to start in late August.
The film follows the story of K-Pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who are idol members of girl group HUNTRIX by day and badass demon hunters by night as they face off against the Saja Boys, a rival boy group of demons in disguise.
And in case you’ve been living under a rock, K-Pop Demon Hunters has taken the world by storm, with the film leading Netflix Top Movies chart in dozens of countries and becoming the second-most-watched film of all time on Netflix, with more than 210 million views. Its soundtrack has also broken several records. In fact, HUNTRIX became the first girl group to claim the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart since Destiny’s Child in 2001.
