8 of the Best Heist Movies and Series to Binge While You’re Obsessing Over the Louvre Robbery

Oct 23, 2025   •   Kyzia Maramara

So, the Louvre just got robbed. Home of the Mona Lisa, priceless antiquities, and now a few less shiny things worth a whopping €88 million (that’s roughly P5.6 billion, if you’re doing the math). Naturally, the whole world is stunned. Half of the internet is horrified that historical artifacts were stolen (in broad daylight at 9:30 AM, no less) and haven’t been recovered as of writing. And the other half is, well, impressed that the robbers actually pulled off a real-life museum heist in 2025. It’s not every day you see a traditional robbery unfold like Hollywood itself made a storyboard on it.

While the French police and Interpol do their detective work, we’re here doing ours: tracking down the best heist movies and series to satisfy our newfound obsession with daring robberies. Here’s what’s on our binge list for the next few days.

The Ocean’s franchise

Blame the Ocean’s franchise on our generation’s collective interest in high-stakes heists, the kind that are flawlessly executed and exaggerated for the big screen. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and the all-star crew made stealing millions look like a walk in the park. Cracking Vegas vaults here, robbing European casinos there. Even the all-women spin-off, Ocean’s 8, certainly turned robbery into a fashion statement. Every movie was scene after scene of smooth-talking, good-looking robbers meeting impossible odds and escaping every curveball at the perfect moment. I mean, how could you not root for these cons when they make it look so classy?

Money Heist (La Casa de Papel)

From the red jumpsuits to that haunting “Bella Ciao” anthem, Money Heist gave us one of the most iconic pop-culture moments of the decade. This Spanish heist crime series taught viewers that it’s not just about stealing billions (although that helps) – it’s about rebellion, hope, and proving what’s right from wrong. If you were riding the Money Heist wave back in 2021, you’d know what to expect. If not, prepare to root for the robbers, cry for the hostages, and question who the real villains are.

Now You See Me

Heists and magic? You’re in for a treat if you haven’t seen the Now You See Me films. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and more, the film takes stage illusion and turns it into a full-blown, high-stakes robbery. Magicians pull off heists while performing life for their audience, outsmarting the FBI and everyone watching at home. It’s clever and a perfect pick for anyone who loves a good, magical twist. And ICYDK, the third movie, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is expected to hit theaters this 2025.

Lupin

A robbery? At the Louvre? If this turns out to be a promo stunt for Lupin Season 4, we wouldn’t even be mad. Assane Diop is the kind of thief you can’t help but cheer for. Inspired by the classic French literary figure Arsène Lupin, he steals not for greed but for justice and always with grace. Every episode is a blend of charm, revenge, and brilliance set against the stunning backdrop of Paris. It’s sophisticated, emotional, and effortlessly cool, a heist story that proves brains always beat brute force.

Baby Driver

In Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Ansel Elgort plays Baby, a getaway driver who uses music to drown out his tinnitus and stay laser-focused behind the wheel. Baby’s life (and heists) are choreographed to the beat of his killer playlists. Forced to work for a crime boss, Baby dreams of escaping the criminal life with the girl of his dreams, Debora (Lily James). But when a heist goes wrong, he’s pulled into a dangerous spiral. Baby Driver might not display the intricacies of pulling off a heist, but it can still give you heart-pounding chases.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E

Espionage, but make it elegant. Set in the Cold War era, this spy-heist hybrid brings together Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, and Alicia Vikander —a trio impossible to resist. Cavill and Hammer navigate double agents, secret missions, and stolen art with the effortless flair of conmen we’re bound to root for. Director Guy Ritchie gives the film his signature slick pacing, making it feel like a vintage postcard with guns, gadgets, and designer suits. It’s dangerously fun to watch, and hilarious, too.

Inception

Christopher Nolan’s Inception isn’t just a heist movie — it’s a reality-bending odyssey. Instead of stealing money, this crew steals ideas from within people’s dreams. With gravity-defying visuals, layered storytelling, and a mind that won’t stop spinning (literally), it remains one of the smartest takes on the genre. It’s the kind of film that leaves you questioning whether the real con was pulled on the audience.

The Pink Panther

Sometimes the best heist stories are the ones that make you laugh. The Pink Panther turns the chase for a stolen diamond into a full-blown comedy of errors, thanks to Inspector Clouseau (Steve Martin) — arguably the most clueless detective in cinema history. It’s hilariously chaotic and a reminder that not every robbery has to end in tears. Sometimes, it ends in giggles.
