With UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament closing its doors last Saturday, we bid farewell to a year full of exciting moments and matches brought about by the 8 competing varsity teams in the annual sports fest. Unfortunately, along with the season, we also bid farewell several notable players that have either maxed out their collegiate eligibility or are not returning due to the completion of their academic requirements. In this article, we’ll be listing down the 8 most memorable volleybelles whose presence we’ll definitely miss when Season 79 begins rolling.
Easily the most polarizing figure in UAAP Volleyball in this decade, Alyssa Valdez will go down in history as one of the league’s most dominant offensive players. Since her entry into the senior’s division in 2011, the Batangas-native led Ateneo to five consecutive finals appearances, producing two championships in the run (Season 76 and 77). In addition to this, she also piled up numerous individual accolades, of which includes three straight Season MVP plums, four straight scoring titles, and a Finals MVP award. While the Lady Eagles have plenty of talent in their roster, they would be hard-pressed to find someone of Valdez’s caliber.
