We all know that a Pinoy teleserye wouldn’t be complete without the main protagonist and antagonist fighting like crazy; it’s basically the highlight of every show ever. These fights make the show juicier and much, much more exciting–giving life to the mostly bland characters.
With all the memorable sampalan and confrontation scenes that graced our screens in recent times, we curated a list of the most epic of all sampalans that ever existed.
Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real revolves around two women who marry the same guy. You might ask how’s that possible, but then you have to watch the show to know the answer to that question. In one of the key scenes of the show, Maricel Soriano’s character confronts her husband’s mistress, Lovi Poe’s Sheila Salazar. Now the whole thing is believable, but the 5-minute elevator ride in a hospital? Yeah right.
People tuned in for 5 months when the remake of the hit Koreanovela aired back in 2014. Two Wives tells the story of an unfaithful husband (what’s new?) leaving his wife for another woman. The show wasn’t short with all the catfights and sagutan moments between the two women, but this sampalan moment stands out. Not only was it full of catchphrases and intense acting, the wife literally slaps the mistress with a concubinage case (and a bottle of suka).
One of the most talked about shows when it aired, The Legal Wife centers on Monica (played by Angel Locsin) dealing with her husband cheating on her with her former best friend Nicole (played by Maja Salvador). Nope, this isn’t the scene that launched a thousand memes, but this one is as intense as Angel Locsin’s hair grab.
Ina Kapaatid Anak is about two rival sisters out to get each other. While it had a confusing plot (the usual switching of babies), the show was extended a few times, culminating after 3 seasons. One intense moment from the show was during the after party of their debut (alas, they’re twins too!); a drunk Maja Salvador confronts Kim Chiu because her entitled ass can’t handle Chiu’s Celyn stealing her spotlight.
Wildflower tells the story of Maja Salvador’s Lily Cruz who’s seeking revenge against a corrupt and powerful family. The show keeps on giving us explosive episodes day after day thanks to the characters’ convincing acting. One of the highlights of the show is the rivalry of Ivy (Salvador) and Nathalie (played by Roxanne Barcelo), both competing for the affection of Arnaldo (played by RK Bagatsing). That push and slap combo deserves a standing ovation.
The breakout show of the year, Ika-6 Na Utos revolves around the lives of Emma (the wife), Rome (the husband) and Georgia (the mistress) as they embark on a crazy ride about love, relationships, and adultery. The show is full of ridiculous catfight scenes, starting from that nerf gun scene. The show is so popular, that they actually extended its airing until Saturdays.
The remake of the 1980 film, Tubig at Langis, tells the story of Irene, a woman who had a child out of wedlock and her husband Natoy who cheats on her with Clara out of pure jealousy. In a scene where all titas can relate to, the two women clashed inside a grocery store. That’s what you get when your opponent is the wife of an MMA fighter.
The show that launched the career of Marian Rivera, Marimar is the Filipino remake of the hit Mexicanovela that aired 10 years ago. In one of the more memorable moments on the show, Marimar’s rival, Angelika, is seen preparing for her wedding to Sergio when Marimar walks in. The scene wouldn’t be complete without a full-on catfight between the two and deliver they did.
