The Araneta Center in Cubao was packed with queens and pageant enthusiasts again last night as it hosted the coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas 2019. The pressure was much more intense this year and expectations were high, brought upon by last year’s titleholder Catriona Gray bagging the much covered Miss Universe crown.
Out of the 40 candidates last night, Cebuana model Gazini Ganados stood out and won the crown of Binibining Pilipinas-Universe. The former titleholder and reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray passed on the crown to her, and right now we can already see that she has large shoes to fill.
Get to know our newest Miss Universe bet with these facts:
Hailing from Talisay City, Ganados was originally from Dapitan City, Zamboanga until she moved to Cebu during sixth grade. The two other Cebuanas who made it the official pageant list are Samantha Ashley Lo from Cebu City, who was crowned as Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, and Ilene Astrid de Vera from Mandaue City.
Ganados is a 23-year old Tourism alumna from University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R). While still in school, she won Miss Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation in 2016.
During the Q&A portion, Ganados was asked how she could get more women in the workplace, to which she answered through promoting her advocacy.
“My advocacy is for us women to fight for our rights and for the elderly care and for us to be able to know that someone is loving and someone is pushing us to whatever ambitions that we have. We will be able to rise from our decisions to whatever dreams that we have, goals that we have, and we will achieve it because of those values, those wisdoms that they gave us,” said Ganados.
Prior to joining Bb. Pilipinas, she joined Miss World Philippines 2014 and was among the top 15. She also won as first runner up in Miss Bohol 2017.
Ganados is not only a familiar name in the pageant industry, she is also a model under the agency Origin Model and Artist Management. Check out her Instagram to see her stunning looks on various editorials!
Ganados is so proud of her Cebuana roots that her gown from the pageant was made by famous Cebuana designer, Cary Santiago. Fans and netizens gave positive reviews about the gown, no wonder she was also awarded as Best in Long Gown.
Her exotic look made her standout in the pageant, and this is because she was born with Palestinian blood. Her mother is a Filipina, while her dad’s a Palestinian. According to reports, she hasn’t met her father.
Aside from winning the most coveted crown, she was awarded as the Most Photogenic and Best in Long Gown.
