According to South Korea’s Military Service Act, all males between ages 18-28 are required to serve in the military. Yes, even our favorite oppas have to be on hiatus to be of service to their nation. Even though we won’t be seeing them on screen for a while, the day they return is something to be excited about. For some fans, the wait is finally over as these oppas will be discharged this 2021:
Fans of While You Were Sleeping star Lee Jong Suk definitely had a blast on the first days of the year as he was finally discharged from the military on January 2. On an Instagram post, he shares the caption “I’m home” and it’s garnered over 3.7 million likes since! Instead of joining the army, he enlisted as a public service worker in March 2019 due to an injury he suffered from a car accident as a teenager. What’s your favorite Lee Jong Suk drama?
Singer-turned-actor Park Hyung Sik was officially discharged from the military on January 4 after enlisting in the army on June 10, 2019. He’s actually been home for a while due to the new COVID-19 protocol but his official discharge was on the 4th. Park Hyung Sik is a member of boy group ZE:A and he’s known for his roles in The Heirs (2013), Strong Girl Bong-Soon (2017), and Hwarang: The Poet Warrior (2016).
EXO’s D.O. or Do Kyungsoo is coming home on January 25 after enlisting on July 1, 2019. The singer-slash-actor’s known to love cooking and he’s become a chef in the military during his enlistment. He also starred in a military musical along with his co-EXO member Xiumin and other celebrities. Aside from his activities as a K-pop idol, he’s also starred in dramas and movies including 100 Days My Prince (2018), My Annoying Brother (2016), and It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014).
Popularly known by his stage name Baro, singer-turned-actor Cha Sun Woo will be discharged on February 21. He enlisted on July 30, 2019 and was awarded as an Exemplary Soldier during his military training! Aside from his activities in his group B1A4, he’s also starred in dramas like Reply 1994 (2013).
After enlisting on September 30, 2019, F.T. Island’s main vocalist Hongki is finally coming home on April 18. During his enlistment, he joined EXO’s D.O. and Xiumin for the military musical Return: The Promise of the Day.
Primadonnas (F.T. Island’s fandom name) are having double celebrations this year as another member of the band will finally finish enlistment. Jaejin, F.T. Island’s bassist, enlisted on January 21, 2020, and will come home on August 1. He also appeared in the same military musical along with his band member Hongsik.
VIPs are will celebrate this year as Seungri will finally be home after enlisting on March 9, 2020. During his training, he was appointed as his battalion’s platoon leader. Prior to his enlistment, Seungri was indicted for mediating prostitution, gambling, and violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act. He will be discharged on September 16.
Known for his role in the hit drama Dr. Romantic in 2016, Yang Se-Jong enlisted in the military on May 12, 2020, at the 27th Division in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province. According to Soompi, his expected discharge will be in November. Are you excited to see him acting in dramas again?
