The showbiz wonderland is full of stories that can make anyone smile, cry, or be in complete shock. For Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber, they managed to send everyone on a roller coaster of emotions with just several photos. Here’s what happened.

Everybody was caught off guard after a photo of singer-songwriter Selena Gomez and model Hailey Baldwin Bieber popped on social media. The two posed in several pictures together, all smiles, hugging, and absolutely radiant, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 2nd Annual Gala in Los Angeles.

But for those wondering why this moment was such a big deal for many, let’s take a stroll down memory lane for a bit.

First, there was Jelena

Selena’s on-and-off romance with singer Justin Bieber were iconic back in the 2010s. The two started dating in 2011 and had split several times before ending the relationship for good in 2018. 

More stories about their relationship were revealed post-breakup, too. At one point, Selena and Justin even revealed — or somewhat hinted — that they wrote songs about each other even after their breakup. 

Then, there was Jailey

The two first met at a fan event in 2009. They were in a non-exclusive relationship for quite some time, had a fallout in between, and eventually got back together. Justin and Hailey tied the knot at a courthouse in 2018, then had a traditional wedding a year after. 

So, was there a rift between Selena and Hailey?

To this day, some Jelena fans are so passionate about the ex-couple’s relationship that they’ve directed hate at Hailey.  There are even countless speculations of a feud between Selena and Hailey, but the two women seem like they’re on good terms. Selena even called out the toxic behavior of some of her fans that are sending hate messages toward the model. In the same way, Hailey also shared there’s no bad blood between her and the pop star.

As soon as the photos got online, Selena and Hailey immediately made headlines. This made it clear to many fans that the ladies have no problems — it’s clear their fans are the issue. 

Let’s face it. Some people live to women at each other’s throats, from the Nicki versus Cardi beef and Britney Spears contra Christina Aguilera to Lady Gaga versus Madonna.

We could go on and on about this culture of pitting women against one another, but everyone will agree it must stop.
