Going Solo: The Coolest Places to Take Yourself Out on a Date in the Metro

Aug 18, 2023   •   Kyzia Maramara

Despite what some folks on the Internet might lead you to believe, dining alone is not weird at all. Going solo lets you try something new, enjoy your own company, and, most importantly, be able to decide every single thing on your own based on what you like. It’s one date that will never go wrong no matter how you plan it. So if you want to try for yourself, here are our recommended restaurants in Manila for a solo date.

Patchimon Ookini

@keeshpotgieter Patchimon Ookini Japanese Restaurant is a hidden gem, a definite must-try! It’s located in Creekside Amorsolo Hotel near Makati Cinema Square. Check our their instagram and tiktok for their full menu. 🤍 @patchimonookini #fyp #foodtok #japanesefood #makatifoodies ♬ Aesthetic – Megacreate

Unit 1-2 Penthouse Level Creekside Building, Amorsolo Street cor. V.A. Rufino Street, Legazpi Village, Makati | 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and 6 PM to 10 PM, Mondays to Saturdays

Budget: P110 – P335

If you’re on Tiktok, the videos of folks trying out this hidden gem might’ve crossed your feed. And if you’ve been wanting to try it yourself, consider this a big, fat sign to go on a solo date in Manila. Patchimon Ookini is an authentic Japanese restaurant tucked in the streets of Legazpi Village in Makati. They serve filling set meals for lunch and dinner — karaage, tonkatsu, ramen-gyoza, all served with unli rice and soup. And if the meals don’t transport you to Japan, the dining style will. Customers get cubicles to themselves so they can dine in private. To order, all you have to do is pick out a laminated card in your cubicle, ring the bell, and wait for a server to lift the divider.
