Admit it, there’s nothing like a well-written and brilliantly acted love confession scene on television that would make us go, “why can’t that happen to me!?!”

We’ve rounded up our 8 favorite cheesy romantic lines that made us destroy the replay button of our video players with no regrets. After all, we could learn a thing or two from them!

8. “You’re the one, Buffy” (Buffy, The Vampire Slayer)

“A hundred plus years, and there’s only one thing I’ve ever been sure of. You. Hey, look at me. I’m not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, it’s not because I want you, or because I can’t have you — it has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try… I’ve seen your kindness and your strength, I’ve seen the best and the worst of you and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You’re a hell of a woman. You’re the one, Buffy.” (Spike to Buffy; Season 7, Episode 20, “Touched”)

Who would not want someone who will accept all her flaws and still love her the way she is? Aww, Spike, how we love you so.

7. “I belong to you.” (Scandal)

“You own me! You control me. I belong to you. You think I don’t want to be a better man? You think that I don’t want to dedicate myself to my marriage? You don’t think I want to be honorable? To be the man you voted for? I love you. I’m in love with you. You’re the love of my life. My every feeling is controlled by the look on your face. I can’t breathe without you. I can’t sleep without you. I wait for you, I watch for you. I exist for you. If I could escape all of this and run away with you? There’s no Sally and Thomas here. You’re nobody’s victim, Liv. I belong to you. We’re in this together.” (Fitz to Olivia; Season 2, Episode 8, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President”)

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why you can never say ‘no’ to Fitz.

6. “Pick me, choose me, love me.” (Grey’s Anatomy)

“Okay, here it is. Your choice, it’s simple: her or me. And I’m sure she’s really great. But Derek, I love you. In a really, really big “pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you”… love you. So pick me. Choose me. Love me.” (Meredith to Derek; Season 2, Episode 5, “Bring the Pain”)

This is, in fact, one of Meredith’s most iconic lines, no matter how cheesy it is. It just shows that no matter what the circumstances are, be brave enough  to tell people you love them, or risk not knowing how they feel.

5. “I’m Chuck Bass and I love you.” (Gossip Girl)

“So the next time you forget you’re Blair Waldorf, remember: I’m Chuck Bass, and I love you.” (Chuck to Blair, Season 3, Episode 4, “Dan de Fleurette”)

Call it old school, but saying those three words and eight letters always, always get  the butterflies fluttering.
