Cha Eunwoo is a South Korean singer, actor, and model who has been blessed with all the talent and breathtaking facial features the universe could provide. That is not an exaggeration. If you haven’t yet, start watching the ongoing K-drama True Beauty, where Eunwoo plays the main lead. His character, Lee Soo Ho will melt your heart of stone and make you literally “bust an uwu”, as GenZs put it. By this point in his acting career, he has become an expert at portraying tsundere characters, boys who look cold and unapproachable on the outside but softies on the inside, and has a 90% success rate of making you roll around on your bed from kilig. And if, like a thousand others out there, you fell for his astonishing good looks in K-dramas, start getting to know him better because Eunwoo has a lot more to offer.

With all the achievements under his belt, it’s surprising to know that the actor is just 23 years old. Eunwoo was born on March 30, 1997 which makes him a ’97 liner and — K-pop fans will be delighted — gives him access to a cool clique composing of other K-pop idols: BTS’ Jungkook, GOT7’s Bambam and Yugyeom, and Seventeen’s Mingyu, DK, and The8. The group is pretty close to each other and can be found occasionally hanging out at shows backstage.
He used to promote using his real name, Lee Dongmin before he debuted with K-pop boy group Astro. Back in 2015, he starred in the web drama To Be Continued where he played a character named Cha Eunwoo. He became popular for the drama and ended up making his character his official stage name. On the Korean reality show Handsome Tigers, he further explains that the former director of his agency advised him to change his name to Cha Eunwoo.
A year after his first stint in acting, he debuted in 2016 as part of the six-member K-pop boy group Astro under Fantagio Entertainment. Eunwoo fulfills the role of the group’s vocals and visuals and he’s a killer with the dance moves too.
Eunwoo had his acting debut as a supporting character in the 2014 film My Brilliant Life. He landed his first main role in a drama with My ID is Gangnam Beauty (2018) followed by the historical drama Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019). True Beauty (2020) is his latest project where he portrays Lee Suho, a brooding, emotionally-scarred high schooler who falls for the unassuming Lim Jukyung (Moon Ga Young).
You can probably guess why. Eunwoo’s dashing good looks make him seem unreal. South Koreans also refer to him as “ManJjitNam” which literally means a handsome man straight out of a comic or, in Gangnam Beauty and True Beauty‘s case, straight out of a webtoon. His impressive visuals have landed him a career in modeling and have had huge brands line up for advertisement deals. Aside from Face Genius, Eunwoo has also earned the nickname ‘Morning Alarm’ given to him by other Astro members because he was always the first one up and in charge of waking them.
He studied English for a few months in Tagaytay when he was in elementary. When he came to the Philippines in 2019 for his fan meet Just One 10 Minutes, Eunwoo mentioned that he has a soft spot in his heart for Filipinos. He even did a cover of Ben&Ben’s hit song Kathang Isip. We just got heart eyes from hearing him serenade the crowd in Tagalog! Did you know he’s also a huge fan of Jollibee?

As if his visuals, vocals, and acting chops aren’t enough, Eunwoo also plays various musical instruments such as the piano, guitar, and violin. All this he does on top of studying performing arts at Korea’s prestigious Sungkyunkwan University. We all have the same question: how is he real?
A handsome man like Eunwoo has snatched hearts left and right (and all over the world), so of course, his career will come with dating rumors. The singer has actually revealed he hasn’t dated anyone since his debut. But that won’t stop from people speculating and linking him with the likes of G-Friend’s Sowon, Twice’s Dahyun, and even his Gangnam Beauty co-stars Jo Woori and Im Sohyang. He also revealed that his ideal type is “a girl who is curious, wise, and intelligent.”
