Netflix just treated everyone to a three-hour-long online global fan event last weekend. It’s packed with the most exciting announcements! The first-ever TUDUM (Yes, tudum as in that sound whenever you start watching anything on the platform), gave us sneak peeks on upcoming shows, dropped new teasers and first looks, and announced new seasons and renewals of some of our favorite series. It looks like the streaming giant is gearing for a busy couple of months ahead. Here are our favorite announcements from the Netflix TUDUM event.
It has been sooo long since we’ve last seen the Stranger Things kids or visited Hawkins, Indiana. Can you believe Season 3 was released pre-pandemic? Based on the latest teaser from the Netflix TUDUM event, the kids are now all grown up. Although Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) still seem to be everyone’s unofficial guardians. Not much is known about Season 4 yet. The teaser is just another in a line of teasers in 2021: one released in May where we get a glimpse of Eleven’s past and one in August that’s a supercut of Season 4. A specific global premiere date is also yet to be announced but the season is promised to be released in 2022. All we know is there’s going to be a lot of spooks involved and we’re ready for it!
Neil Gaiman‘s groundbreaking 1988 comic book series has a Netflix series adaptation coming to our screens soon! Did you know that plans of adapting The Sandman into a film were first made in 1991? It took three decades and a number of rejected scripts before it will finally debut on our screens.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads: “The Lord of Dreams [a.k.a Sandman/Morpheus] has been summoned, and captured, by mortal men. Once free from his captivity, this eternal ruler of Dreams will realize that his troubles are only just beginning.” We’ll also get to meet the Endless, Morpheus’ siblings: Destiny, Death, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium (formerly Delight).
The Sandman is going to have 11 episodes. No news yet on when it will be released but in the meantime, you can check out the cast:
Season 1 of Regency-era series Bridgerton was streamed by 82 million households making it the most-watched Netflix original series of 2020. Everyone collectively fell in love with Simon Basset the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton played by Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor. But no matter how smitten everyone is with the couple’s story, it ends there. Season 2 will be centered on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his quest to find a wife. It also introduces a new character, Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
Shondaland’s Bridgerton is based on a novel series by Julia Quinn. It consists of eight books that center on a different Bridgerton sibling. The first season was adapted from The Duke and I and the second season will be adapted from The Viscount Who Loved Me. The launch date is yet to be announced but Netflix did treat everyone to a teaser where we see Anthony and Kate meet for the first time.
Your favorite ex-pat is back in action for Emily in Paris 2. The Netflix TUDUM event gave us a sneak peek with a teaser and an official release date. Emily in Paris is set to air on Dec. 22, 2021, just in time for your Christmas binge!
In Season 2, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) continues her journey of learning more about the French culture as she works for a luxury Parisian agency. Season 1 saw her trampling everyone with her immature American ways but for Season 2, it looks like the writers had the mercy to spare her a little more maturity. She’s off on a relaxing French vacation with her bestie Mindy (Ashley Park) and Camille (Camille Razat). But the love triangle between her and hot French chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and his girlfriend Camille is now a full-blown thing.

Missed the young and feisty Enola Holmes (Millie Bobbie Brown) and her partner in crime, the Viscount Tewkesbury, Marquess of Basilwether (Louis Partridge)? You’ll be glad to know that the production for the second installment of the movie is well on its way. But we do know a few things, although we weren’t given much information to work out the plot just yet. Millie, Louis, and Henry Cavill (a.k.a Enola’s big bro Sherlock) himself are set to reprise their roles. Harry Bradbeer and Jack Thorne will also be returning to direct the film and write the script respectively.
Enola Holmes was adapted from a novel series by Nancy Springer. The first film followed the plot of the first book, The Case of the Missing Marquess. It’s highly likely that the second movie will also follow the second book, The Case of the Left-Handed Lady. If this turns out to be true, are we looking at four more Enola Holmes movies to follow the rest of the series? We’re not complaining.
Money Heist left us high and dry with Season 5 Vol 1’s cliffhanger ending. The creators did say it was for the better since everyone would obviously need a breather after that character’s death. But we won’t have to wait long. Part 2 will be on our screens come Dec. 3, 2021. And as a treat for everyone, Alvaro Morte, the Professor himself, showed us an exclusive clip you can watch above.
Based on that short clip, it looks like something bad will happen to the Professor (again). Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) might be brewing her own plans after all. In any case, the robbers are now once again running around like headless chickens and we’re excited to see how this last season ends.
Shinichiro Watanabe’s 1998 Japanese anime series Cowboy Bepop will have a Netflix adaptation and everyone’s got high hopes for it. The live-action stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine. It’s set to premiere on Nov 19, 2021. The streaming giant shared the opening credits during the Netflix TUDUM event as well as a few snapshots from the series:

The beloved anime series tells the story of bounty hunters a.k.a “cowboys” who “hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals for a price.”
Breaking News out of #TUDUM!
Sex Education has been renewed for Season 4! pic.twitter.com/8N2WwNLqoG
— Netflix (@netflix) September 25, 2021
While everyone is still on a high from Sex Education Season 3 which debuted early this month, Netflix goes ahead and drops the good news: the series is renewed for yet another season. That means you’ll be seeing more of actors Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Mimi Keene, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, and the rest of the cast.
Sex Education is set in the fictional Moordale Secondary School in England. It follows the story of Otis, a teenage boy with a sex therapist mother. Throughout the seasons he starts a sex therapy clinic at school, finds his way through romance (and flings), and helps his struggling peers. There’s no official info yet on Season 4’s plot or release date.
Henry Cavill himself showed everyone a few new clips from The Witcher Season 2 where he will be returning as Geralt of Rivia. The first season became one of the most-streamed shows on Netflix, it’s inevitable the show will return. Catch The Witcher Season 2 on Netflix on Dec. 17, 2021. Aside from that exciting news, the showrunners also introduced everyone to an entire Witcher universe.
There’s The Witcher: Blood Origin where we got set footage from behind-the-scenes of the prequel series. Showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also confirmed that there will be “a second Witcher anime film as well as a fun-filled kids and family series.” And — get this — she also mentioned that The Witcher Season 3 is in the works. Exciting times ahead!
These are just some of the announcements from the Netflix TUDUM global fan event we’re looking forward to the most. Watch the three-hour program here and visit the TUDUM website for more info.
