Are you feeling some sort of separation anxiety for everyone’s favorite healing show? Don’t worry; the cast of Hospital Playlist is back! But this time, they’re hanging up their white coats and getting down to work in a variety show called Three Meals A Day: Doctors or Mountain Village Life Playlist.
And while it did tie up some loose ends (i.e. ships sailing!), we were kind of left hanging. Or maybe we just wanted to see more of the Hospital Playlist ensemble. So far, we’re not sure if we’re getting a third season, but the creators did leave things up in the air. So we still got our fingers crossed.
The five friends in Hospital Playlist will be going up to the mountains to spend some time with nature. Just from the teasers and stills we’ve been seeing, we already know we’re going to enjoy watching this show. Even Kim Hae-sook, who plays Mama Rosa, made an appearance! So we’re crossing our fingers to see the other cast members eat the food the 99z prepare (or maybe cook with them, as Kim Hae-sook did).
The concept of the show is drawn from Three Meals a Day, a variety show created by writer Lee Woo-jung of Hospital Playlist and PD Na Young-seok, who also made a cameo in the second season. The cast is brought to a rural village, where they must scour for their own ingredients to cook three meals a day (hence, the title).
So what can you expect for Three Meals a Day: Doctors? Well, the title already spoils some of it: you can expect a whole lot of delicious food that the cast would devour along with long hours of cooking and beautiful views of nature. Watching this would probably make you feel healed yet hungry.
The cast will be doing all the cooking, cleaning, and generally fending for themselves while in the mountains. So you will be witnessing a lot of hilarious hijinks that would definitely crack you up. At night, when all the food has been eaten and the dishes cleaned, the 99z will sit down together and talk about anything and everything — maybe including their time as the 99z on Hospital Playlist, so be ready for some funny anecdotes and even sentimental talks (tissue, where are you?!).
ICYMI, after Season 1 ended, the 99z ended up going camping on the grounds of the shooting location of Yulje Medical Center. But their peaceful camping times got invaded by none other than Na PD, who then forced them to play games in exchange for food. They only filmed the show for a day and overnight, but it was pretty hilarious. You can watch it through the 15.ya Youtube channel.
The variety show Three Meals A Day: Doctors featuring your favorite Hospital Playlist barkada will be streaming on Viu starting October 9, with new episodes every Saturday.
Season 3 may not be happening anytime soon, but the cast of Hospital Playlist has projects lined up soon.
Jo Jung-seok (a.k.a. Dr. Lee Ik-jun) will be starring in a film called Nation of Happiness. Yoo Yeon-seok (a.k.a. Dr. Ahn Jeong-won) is working on two films: Puppy and a French film called Matin Calme. Jung Kyung-ho (a.k.a. Dr. Kim Jun-wan) was recently cast in Apgujeong Report, where he will play another talented doctor role, but this time in plastic surgery. Jeon Mi-do (a.k.a. Dr. Chae Song-hwa) is set to star in Thirty-Nine alongside Son Ye-jin, and it will tell the story of three ladies, their friendship, love, life, and time before turning forty. We’re still waiting on news for the next project of Kim Dae-myung (a.k.a. Dr. Yang Seok-hyung), but for now, we can see him and the rest of the 99z in Three Meals A Day: Doctors!
