What are Sonny Angels?

Although originally born in 2004, these tiny figurines experienced a resurgence in 2023 thanks to Gen Zs and Millennials healing their inner children. Collecting toymaker Toru Soeya’s creation has definitely helped many escape their stress, if only for a little while. But what’s so special about a palm-sized, naked figurine?

“Sonny Angel is a little angel boy who likes wearing all sorts of headgear,” reads its website. It’s designed to “provide healing moments in your everyday life.” These three-inch figurines are so tiny, they can be placed in the nooks and crannies of your home to shower you with random bursts of cuteness. Collectors also love to bring it with them to school for study inspiration or even just on a trip to a cafe as a cute companion.

To date, there are more than 650 kinds of these figurines, each with a unique headgear that’s part of a series — Animal, Vegetable, Marine, Fruit, Flower, and a whole lot more. There’s also the limited-edition series which includes coveted collections like Cat Life, Cactus Series, and Afternoon Tea. These have Sonny Angels dressed up in uber cute outfits with matching headgear which are understandably irresistible for collectors anywhere.

Sonny Angel: Where to buy + Pricing

Fully Booked is currently the only official partner of Sonny Angels in the Philippines. Sonny Angels are priced from P489 to a little under P600 depending on the series. They’re also packaged in identical boxes so you buy them “blind,” an experience K-pop stans are all too familiar with thanks to photocards.
