Although August ushers in the monsoon season, there are still plenty of reasons to be happy under the rain. This month aside from proudly Pinoy events happening around the metro, you can fill out your calendar with these other exciting events – from fun runs to film festivals and musicals!
Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino
Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino is now on its second year and still very much loved by Filipinos. This year, the 8 chosen finalists will be screening nationwide starting from August 15 to 21, 2018. Check out 8List.ph’s movie guide here!
History Con 2018
This weekend from August 10 to 12, 2018 at the World Trade Center, witness an exciting line-up of stars and personalities brought by History Con 2018! The entertainment convention will allow fans and history geeks to get up close and personal with favorite celebrities from TV programs and stars from favorite shows like Ancient Aliens, History Hustle, and Celebrity Car Wars (featuring Xian Lim and Diego Loyzaga). Japanese Film Festival
It’s time once again for the Japanese Film Festival or what’s more widely known as EIGASAI to hit Philippine shores. The festival will treat viewers to a wide array of Japanese films from drama, anime, mystery, to recently released films all for free (except for Greenbelt cinemas). Word Wonder: A Book++ Bazaar
Over 10,000 books, comics, magazines + bookmarks, stickers, postcards, posters, and literary-themed arts and crafts await visitors at Word Wonder’s bazaar. Find book titles and attend workshops (with a small fee) from August 31 to September 2, 2018 at Century City Mall’s 5F Events Center. The event is entrance-free, pet-friendly, and eco-conscious so if you’re planning on going, remember to bring your own eco bags!
Pinoy Fitness Kasama Run
Ever tried joining a fun run? Now’s your chance! Pinoy Fitness is celebrating its 9th anniversary with a fun run for pairs on August 19, 2018 at SM by the Bay. Put your racing sneakers on and find a buddy to run 5k, 10k, or 16k! Registration fees are designed for a pair so if you finish the race, you will get 2 Finisher “Connected” Medals to boast.
Musicals and Theater performances
Spend a night away from the traffic and relax to live performances. You might even find yourself singing along to a song or two!

In celebration of their second anniversary, Tripkada will be hosting a Palarong Pinoy event on August 10, 2018 at Lokal Hostel rooftop in Makati.
