LOOK: A Sneak Peek at the BTS Pop-Up Store at SM Megamall

May 28, 2021   •   Cristina Morales and Alain Fusana

It’s happening. It’s finally happening. ARMYs, ready your wallets, your bodies, your hearts: the BTS pop-up store at SM Megamall is finally opening tomorrow. Here’s what you can expect from BTS Pop-up: Map of the Soul.

What is BTS POP-UP: MAP OF THE SOUL?

Back in 2019, HYBE IP (formerly Big Hit IP) launched pop-up stores in Seoul, Shibuya in Japan, and Mexico City called “BTS Pop-up: House of BTS”. The shops sold both exclusive merch and already-launched merch until January 2020. BTS Pop-Up: Map of the Soul is a showcase that draws from the K-pop group’s fourth studio album Map of the Soul: 7, which was released in February 2020.

The showcase kicked off in Seoul in October, then was launched in Singapore and recently, Thailand. It will also be launched in Malaysia and Taiwan in the next few months.

What can you buy at BTS Pop-Up: Map of the Soul?

The 190 square meter pop-up store will showcase over 400 products, from apparel to stationery to household items. Because the store’s central theme is Map of the Soul:7, expect lots of products that feature songs from that album, such as “Black Swan” and “ON”. But fans will also be able to get their hands on merch from earlier albums, as well.

New products will be released every two weeks, so ARMY, get ready to make multiple visits!

TinyTan merch!

Apart from album-related merch, there’s also plenty of TinyTan products you can get your hands on. Get ready for cute overload, cause it’s a lot.

How much should I be prepared to spend?

Every K-pop fan knows that supporting your idols isn’t cheap, but thankfully, there’s something for every budget here.

From ₱250 washi tapes…

…to this ₱9,180 Black Swan bomber jacket:

So to answer that question, how much you spend is really up to you! (Just prepare your wallet for the worst.)

Instagrammable spots galore!

If you don’t want to spend much but just want the BTS *~experience~*, you’ll probably be glad to know that apart from merch, the pop-up store also features photo zones, like the neon light wings and retro “Disco” background a la “Boy with Luv” pictured above.

You could also get your pictures taken at the super cute TinyTan displays!

Where is it exactly?

The BTS Pop-Up Store is located on the 3rd Floor of SM Megamall Fashion Hall — in between Uniqlo and H&M. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Until when will the pop-up store be open in Manila?

BTS Pop-up: Map of the Soul is only here for a limited time — it’ll be open until August 29, 2021.

You’ll need to make a reservation

BTS is the biggest boy band in the world, so you can expect that loads of people will want to visit the store. To avoid crowding, advance registration is required through the online booking platform morningKall. Admission guidelines such as physical distancing and crowd control will also be enforced to ensure the safety of patrons.

You can make a reservation on the morningKall platform every Wednesday of the week. Register ASAP before you run out of slots!

To learn more about the BTS Pop-up: Map of the Soul Showcase in Metro Manila, follow morningKall (Twitter; Facebook; Instagram)  and SM Megamall (Twitter; Facebook; Instagram) for announcements.

Though a chronic dabbler in whatever tickles her fancy, Cristina claims she can count her passions on one hand: feminism, literature, the environment, embroidery, and the power of a solid pop song. She lives in Uniqlo lounge pants and refuses to leave the house without a winged eye.
