Metro Manila kicked off the work week with heavy rains and flooding, leaving roads clogged and commuters stranded as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to drench the capital. And with another round of downpours and strong winds expected as the day winds down, getting home safely could be another challenge for thousands of Filipinos. Thankfully, several malls across Metro Manila are opening their doors this August 17 to provide temporary shelter for those who may be stranded or affected by the weather. Here are the malls where you can seek refuge from the rain.
SM Supermalls announced that select malls in affected areas will open their doors to stranded customers. They will be offering free overnight parking, free WiFi, charging stations, and a help desk for anyone in need. For a complete list of malls, check here.
Select Ayala Malls in Metro Manila announced that they’re opening their doors beyond mall hours to those affected by the monsoon. Stranded guests and nearby residents can use the waiting areas, restrooms, and charging stations for free, with select malls also offering free overnight parking. Uptown Bonifacio, Lucky Chinatown, Paseo Center, San Lorenzo Place Mall, and other Megaworld Lifestyle malls are offering temporary shelter for customers affected by heavy rains and flooding. Overnight parking fees for August 17 are waived, with free EV charging available at Uptown Bonifacio.
Robinsons Malls in affected areas are open to customers and nearby residents who need temporary shelter and access to essential amenities. For August 17, they’re offering free WiFi, charging stations, and waived overnight parking. Check the social media page of the Robinsons Mall near you.
