They call them QTs, short for Quarantine Tributes. You know, the people tasked to shop and run errands instead of their parents during the lockdown.
Thanks to the Facebook group Quarantine Tribute Tips, anyone clueless when it comes to cooking and shopping for basic needs now have a place to mine wisdom from. As of this writing, the group has 29,000 members and a plethora of hacks and tips ranging from palengke shopping, housekeeping, tribute experiences, and recipes plus cooking guides.
In your leisure time, you can scroll through the group’s newsfeed and look for stuff that will be of use to you but we’re here to talk about easy recipes you can make while quarantined. Here are a few of our favorites shared by fellow tributes:

Is somebody’s birthday coming up? Or maybe you just like keeping something sweet in the refrigerator. A kind-hearted netizen shared their Lemon Square Cheesecake Ice Cream Cake recipe and it’s so easy to do, you might want to try it right away. Because as Rie McClenny of Tasty would say, regular cheesecake snack? Make it fancy!
Before the internet went crazy over the Dalgona Coffee trend, there was the Japanese Souffle Pancake. Now that we’re under quarantine, the restaurants serving this fluffy goodness are all closed and on lockdown too. But don’t worry, it’s totally doable at home! Just pack a lot of patience if you’re not good at cooking.
Here’s another craving you can satisfy right at the comfort of your home and you only need three ingredients: potatoes, egg, and breading. By the time this quarantine lets up, you’d have perfected the Shakey’s style mojos and you get bragging rights to your family and friends.
There’s an on-going liquor ban but if you’ve got a bottle of Soju or flavored beer lying around, you might want to try this one. This Strawberry Yakult Soju is the answer to your cravings, albeit mild. When was the last time you relaxed with a decent beverage in hand? You can even boot up Zoom or Messenger and do some “E-numan” with your barkada.
This particular generous netizen shared his recipe and tips to creating 4 kids of refrigerator cake made from easy-to-purchase ingredients. Since you might not be able to get a hold of mangoes or if they’re too pricey, there’s the Milo Ref Cake, Cream-O Cookies and Cream Ref Cake, and Hansel Mocha Ref Cake. There’s also a Dalgona Ref Cake if you haven’t had enough of that trend yet.
