June may either mark the end of summer or the start of it for schools and universities. Whatever it is, there’s never a shortage of things to enjoy in the city. Whether you’re going to these events to kickstart your summer or to give you motivation for another school year, June has got you covered!
The 348th Araw ng Makati 10-day celebration will be full of color and festivities. Co-presented by FringeMNL, Makati Makisalo brings together citizens of all ages and backgrounds across Makati’s 33 barangays to celebrate the city’s colorful cultural identity. We’re on the last month of the first half of the year and we’re still bombarded by shows from our favorite international acts! But we’re not complaining, we say keep ‘em coming. It’s once again the time of the year for the annual Fete de la Musique organized by the Alliance Française de Manille, the Embassy of France to the Philippines, Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines, and in partnership with B-SIDE Productions. This particular music festival is well-loved by the public, its many pocket stages cater to a wide array of music genres across different locations easily accessible. Favorite indie acts are also headliners in the main stages of Makati, Intramuros, Laguna, and Baguio.

The French Film Festival returns on its 23rd year of bringing the best of French cinema to Manila! Watch curated French contemporary films that will be screening at Bonifacio High Street Cinemas, Greenbelt 3 Cinemas, and UP Town Center Cinemas from June 6 to 12, 2018. Manila will not be the only ones enjoying this treat as the film festival is also set to screen shows in Ayala Center Cebu and Abreeza Mall, Davao.

Established in 2015, Virgin Lab Fest pride themselves in showing untried, untested, unpublished, and unstaged plays. All the plays you will watch are creations by emerging and established Filipino playwrights. VLF is held annually at the Cultural Center of the Philippines with tickets priced as follows: festival tickets (P400 for regular seats; P600 for premium seats) and passes (P1,600 for regular; P2,400 for premium). These are available at Ticketworld and the CCP Box Office.

The Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectible Convention (TOYCON) boasts of being Asia’s biggest and longest running convention for toys and collectibles, cosplay, comics, gaming and digital entertainment. Its 16 years of making the pop culture scene dynamic has attracted 30,000 visitors annually, even including our Asian neighbors. Jason David Frank (Green Ranger Tommy) and Neal Adams (Legandary Comic Book Artist) are some of this year’s guests.
