G Toengi. As fate would have it, she was discovered while she was walking in the mall. Now, we live in The Philippines. A country where every celebrity is expected to sing, dance and act. In Hollywood, they call that a triple threat. Triple threat isn’t enough to describe G.
From an initial career of modeling, she transitioned to doing films and tv. Starring in Gimik, Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako and eventually becoming an MTV VJ. This multi-talented entertainer was definitely a head turner.
G is still involved in the TV industry, albeit in a different continent. In 2014, she debuted as new host and producer of Los Angeles’ #1 locally produced talk show, “Kababayan Today.”
Before Pia Wurtzbach, there was Charlene Gonzales, when she represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe Pageant in 1994. She might not have won the competition, but she charmed the whole universe with her “high tide or low tide?” quip.
As is the case for tall, talented, beautiful women, show biz offers came pouring in. After competing in the Miss Universe, the next logical step would be to star in “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko”, right?
Aside from a prolific film career, she would also go on to appear in approximately 1,001-1,002 episodes of Asap and Eezy Dancing (depending on the tide)
Now she is married to Mr. Bagets himself, Aga Muhlach.
Guys who grew up in the 90’s will recognize Amanda Griffin as, well, the girl on every magazine cover. We can probably consider that the pre-internet equivalent of going viral.
Nowadays she splits her time between being a mother of 3 and running her own website where she reviews different beauty products.
